I'm an undergraduate student and ROTC cadet who has been accepted to Loyola and have gotten an LOA for a slot in a nearby guard unit as a medical student, so my situation with officer accessions is pretty much set. The only hurdle left is graduating and then attending LDAC in the summer as an end-of-camp commissionee.

I was wondering if anyone here who has been through LDAC would be willing to give me some feedback on what it was like. I've asked others in my BN but I'm the only pre-med cadet that I know, so it would be helpful to get some input from people on this forum about it. Was it challenging and useful in some ways or a waste of time? What are some things I can do to prepare?

I feel like I'm in an awkward position since there isn't much motivation for me to do anything more than just pass, but I don't want to be one of the worst cadets at camp either. I greatly appreciate any advice you'd be willing to give.

Pretty much a waste of time unless you want to spend 30 days talking about how awesome being a Ranger/Green Beret/Seal/Delta will be. The only thing to look out for is the PT test and the Land Nav, those are the only two things you can actually fail at LDAC. The grading system is set up so that you would pretty much have to refuse to train to fail anything else. The PT test is a real bear because it is graded by new Lieutenants so each rep must be perfect. Land nav was pretty easy though, the points are right by the roads and there are trails leading to them.
Bottom line is to just go out and pass, you're not going to be an Infantry PL. It's 30 days and your butter bar wont be any shinier if you get an E at LDAC.

It's been nearly a decade since I went, but it doesn't sound like much has changed from how Jtun84 describes it. It was incredibly stupid and boring, but don't tell your fellow cadets that. So many of them took it so damn seriously. Just put your head down and check the box. Hopefully you're not going in the first rotation, because none of those trails to the land nav. points had been made for my class. That caused a relatively high percentage of people to fail and have to repeat. Hello blisters.
