Rowan University 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

Assuming that my decision will still take awhile as i’m in Nevada 😛

honestly really shocked at the amount of rejections, as a new school I thought a lot more people would be on the waitlist. I also thought my interview went well and sort of disappointed that I’m so low on the waitlist
I’m so shocked, they must have received an overwhelming number of applications… I know their class size is not very big but I also think they’ve were very quick to reject people

I was just saying this to someone as well. They’re a new school and I feel like rejected quite a lot of people, especially IS it seems. I wonder what will happen if people choose other schools and they run through their waitlist and still end up having seats. I believe that happened to Colorado one year. Find it odd since they’re so new. Really thought the interview went superb and then to be flat out rejected stings.

And they don’t offer file reviews which seems a bit silly.

My thoughts exactly Long Island is a new school and they have gone through like 150- 200 waitlist spots for 4 years

I wonder if they’re preparing for something. A medical school in MA rescinded their 2025 class offers recently because of funding, etc. I have some friends who also have just been ghosted by their PhD program applications. Maybe they’re worried. Or at least that’s the justification I’m giving myself to not stay so upset haha.

Ah, ignore me. This is what happens when you listen solely to what your parents say before reading the article. It was PhD students. Not med students.

I’m genuinely curious to how many people they interviewed. Maybe they really did fill all 480 interview spots.
I think it’s very possible as it’s a new school they interviewed way more people knowing that people would be backing out/ choosing another option, etc.. I’m sure the pool was huge considering every person I know who was rejected by other schools applied to Rowan just to see if they’d get in. I’m sure their pool was much bigger than they thought it would be as well

That’s what I’m thinking now, I had some speculations that they would maybe fill half the spots and offer 70 seats and waitlist the rest. But, yeah maybe they went with filling most / all of the times and have a large waitlist from there. Hopefully they release the stats down the line. I was talking with some veterinarians and other doctors and they think that Rowan is going to be SUPER picky with offers for their first year. From what I’m reading with anyone waitlisted I’m confused with how the quartile positions work.

I agree it is really shocking as a brand new school! I have a feeling they’ll end up calling some people they initially rejected honestly…

No same! Def puts a bad taste in the publics mouth rejecting so many IS applicants.

They only have 35 spots each for IS and OOS for their first year though, so I don’t think we can hold anything against the school in terms of that. I’m sure there are just as many OOS applicants getting rejection letters too unfortunately.

You are right, it sucks but it is the truth

I also think SDN is such a small snapshot of the application pool. Think about how small 35 seats each pool is and how many probably applied. I’m sure there’s so many IS rejections bc they had so many more IS applicants considering everyone from New Jersey has never had a state school to apply to so even people who got into other schools submitted apps. For only 35 seats, that’s an extra small fraction that are actually accepted vs applied. Hopefully future years they can expand!

I’m OOS (Midwest) and haven’t gotten anything (that I know of)… Is this the case with anyone else?

I don't think they did...my computer crashed and I was rescheduled for later that day. I'm guessing they had extra slots in case people had technical difficulties.

Their website said 90 next year so maybe depending on how this upcoming year goes it could be more!

I just wonder if they had all the time slots open and had a few people fill each one how they would move them around. I had checked after I scheduled mine and there were some spots gone from each time slot. Sorry to hear that happened, hopefully they were understanding pretty fast in that situation

So I am going to post my experience about applying to Rowan, I am not trying to persuade or dissuade anybody from applying there, but as an applicant to their inaugural class and someone who has always been responsible and diligent with their application, what happened to me with them has never happened to me before and has left a very bad taste in my mouth for this school.

When they got the letter of reasonable assurance after VMCAS, I was very excited as this was my in-state school. I reached out to all of my previous recommenders who still had my letter and they all told me they would submit it. Long story short, I had all of my materials that were in my control in way before the deadline (transcripts, essays, fee, etc) but I could not see whether all of my recommendation letters were in until I submitted. They told us to give them time because the letters were sent as one off to their giant inbox and they needed to sort through everything. I double checked with all of my recommenders and they told me that they sent their letters. My one professor’s still wasn’t coming up, but given that they needed time I didn’t think much of it. Long story short I get an email a few days later saying my application was incomplete and they decided to throw it out from being reviewed. I reached out to my professor and she told me that she sent it and tried to call and follow up with them to explain, but they completely ghosted her. When I kindly asked for a case review since this was caused by something beyond my control, they spit back the same email that they were not making any exceptions because it would “compromise the integrity of the process.” Yet the website had had technical errors during the submissions process so much so that you reached out to let all applicants know? Also, seeing as this was the first class, did they not anticipate that there were going to be similar issues like this along the way? So because I the applicant did all of my due diligence with all my other materials, I feel like I am still being punished at the end of the day. I have tried to reach out a few times and my professor said that she emailed them as well, but they did not respond to her either. I understand if they didn’t want to talk to me anymore as they needed the confirmation directly from her, but to not even acknowledge another professor in the field who is advocating for their student in this situation is completely unprofessional and bizarre to me. They are also not willing to refund my $150 application fee despite again all of my materials being in and this being something completely not my fault. All in all, I cannot believe that they would treat their inaugural class this way as they seem to have no consideration and are just there to look at you as a number and take your money, which I don’t even think that they should be there yet. I should also note that my professor is one of the directors at a different in-state school where a lot of undergrad/grad students will be coming from before moving to Rowan if they want to stay in state. Even VMCAS itself lets you track recommendation letters in real time and gives them a couple extra weeks because they understand that’s something like that is not the student’s fault. I think there was a more empathetic way to handle this and unfortunately they did not given all the circumstances.

had this same experience! very disappointing and overall unprofessional way of dealing with their own poor system

Does a rejection come through the mail as well or did those who were rejected get an Email? I'm an OOS (CA resident) and I interviewed 3/2, haven't gotten anything in the mail... yet!

I am in state but my rejection came through mail only, no email

small envelope on informed delivery...just hoping its a waitlist rather than a rejection. not gonna be home till late sunday or early monday, so debating making my parents open it lol

do we think the waitlist will move much? seems like most of us Rowan was our last chance at acceptance so unsure if it will get down to the bottom

hi! i am very grateful to be IS acceptance. is there a groupchat already made for people committed to attending this fall?

small letter on my informed delivery for tomorrow 🫠 holding out hope for a waitlist seat. Do we have any idea when the waitlist will start moving?

Most likely after April 15 🙃
honestly facts but on the letter they said, “
[getting off waitlist] could occur as soon as a few days from receipt of this letter and be as late as just prior to starting our Welcome Week on August 25th, 2025. Our admissions office will reach out to you directly if we are able to offer you a position.

If you have not heard from us by by September 2nd [ur not in]”
best of luck 🥲
