Ok I know running shouldn't be my major concern when picking a college, but I would really like to know if there are good places to run around any of the eight campuses. It is a major part of my life and I don't want to just give it up when I go to podiatry school.

best place to run - central park NYC. you can join the NYCPM running club and enter to run in NYC ING marathon.

I went to NYCPM and ran two NYC marathons. Running in Central Park everyday was awesome...people in NYC love to run and they are hard core runners! The key is to live in Greystone, one of their housing options, because it is walking distance to Central Park and Riverside Park. It's a little bit pricier, but totally worth it for the awesome area.

Good luck!

That is impossible to compete with.

But at DMU there are a lot of jogging trails one goes from the northen surbs through downtown to the southern surbs. The have a 12K damn to damn race. In WDM, there are trails around a nice river park.

Just for info purposes -

NYCPM no longer has apts at Greystone. It has been converted into condos.

Housing options for NYCPM are Draper Hall and Parkchester.

Is that really all you have in your wellness center?

what is a wellness center? we have a school - one building, clinic and classrooms in one building.

there is no university like at DMU.

the gym is a small room in the basement. but who wants to be in a gym when Central Park is down the street?

I haven't been mugged in the Wellness Center or anywhere. I also like holding doors open for ladies and not getting a strange look. NYC is nice to visit but I prefer the Midwest.

I have not been mugged in central park, Harlem, the south bronx, or anywhere ever either.

Tomorrow is the ING marathon. hopefully I get to meet Lance Armstrong.

Running wise you definately won't have as much time unless you want to be a complete social hermit (although you are much of the time with the studying). You can easily run every day though if you plan your day out and can use your time wisely.

As for places to run, it depends on where you're coming from. From DMU's campus I can reach lakes to run by, some rolling hills (mostly small) MANY paved bikepath trails and some dirt trails. I am pretty happy with the running around here and I did the whole cross/track thing in college etc.

Plus, everyone know's DMU is just the coolest haha

Hey, did you decide to go to DMU over AZPOD?

Take care of yourself always regardless of the situation. There are plenty of individuals who will sacrifice their health for a degree and overly-ample party time. You'll see plenty of them out of shape by their 4th yr if they don't take care fo themselves. And guess what. It's hard to get it back and at that stage, they probably won't.

My advice, retain a little discipline and try not to unlearn good behaviors.

what kind of treadmill is used in your respective gyms(name/# on it)? And as far as the new pics that Feelgood posted thanks and Arnold did pretty good with uglier machines than that.

yup, got sucked into the DMU family haha, now all I need to do is get a wife and a couple of kids and I'll be all set.
