I'm not sure, but for what its worth, I haven't heard a word from any of the schools in Louisiana but they are a little behind in the process so I am still hopeful...good luck.
 
I was @ Rush on Dec 7th and I think I heard the same as deacondan (we might hear before the holidays but for sure by early january). Dr. Kitty, maybe you should try writing a letter of interest that specificly mentions what you like about the program at Rush. Calling might be a good idea also but I don't know if that would be the best way to express your interest. Good luck.

Which interviewee were you on Dec 7th?
 
I emailed the office. They hope to have all the people who have interviewed so far go to the committee this week or next week so we should hear something by the first of the year. Thats the official word. It all depends on how fast your interviewer filled out their evaluation and if the committee people get online to vote over the holidays. Good luck everyone!

What did you think? The med students at lunch said he could be intimidating, but I thought he was pretty nice. He likes the ethical dilemma, doesn't he?
 
I really loved rush. It is one of my top choices. Yes, Dr. Rosen was very intimidating. HE LOVES ethical dilemas. Here was our conversation:

"Why do you want to be a doc?"

I told him.

"It looks like your a bright young man, let's see how you think on your feet?"

I was Sh*****G bricks.
 
:laugh: Exactly! That was how mine went, too! He thoroughly warned me with his "ground rules" and how he's going to play a role to "make me sweat." Haha

I liked Rush a lot, too. Waitlisted though.🙁
 
Holy crap, I just read someone who interviewed at Rush on 11/9 and got accepted on 11/30. That's a quick turnaround time!
 
I really hope I get in. When did you interview. I interviewed on 11/30.

I am sorry about the waitlist. Sometimes the waitlist does not look good at that school, because sometimes they only take a few from the waitlist. I know they told us they accepted 263 the past two years. The year before that they took 40 something from the waitlist, but last year only about 5. Good luck, I hope you get into your top choice.
 
Rush is insanely fast. I interviewed 11/30...and found out that I had been admitted yesterday. Personally, I really liked my experience there, so I'm pretty happy about getting in...though I'm still waiting on another school, I'd say Rush is probably my second choice.
 
Did any of you guys get a chance to see the dorms for the first years at Rush? Our tour didn't take us out there (We were thankful too because it was 5 degrees outside that day) so we didn't get a chance to see inside. Does anyone know what they are like? How many rooms? What is the set up like? etc.

Hey, I also interviewed on 11/30. Where are you from (chicago area?) Can I also ask for your stats. Also, did you find out through an email or letter? Thanks in advance.
 
I just got back from interviewing at Rush this past Mon. 12/19. According to Ms. Porter, ALL decisions are via thin envelope and usually 3 weeks after the interview BUT it still depends on the 2 interviewers getting their stuff in on time...I believe she said the ADCOM meets 1X a week?!

FWIW, for my group, she said we'd hear around the end of January due to various members of the ADCOM being out for the holidays.

I wouldn't make any conclusions until you get that envelope!

I'm from the suburbs of Chicago, go to college in the city. I called on Mon (the 19th) and found out I was in...I got my letter on Thurs (the 22nd). As far as stats are concerned...3.6 GPA, 33 MCAT, standard list of research/volunteer activities. Have you heard back yet?
 
I don't understand why Rush accepts so few out of staters despite being a private school!!!
 
FYI for all people that interviewed December 7th.

I heard from the admissions office that, as previously promised, they will NOT be able to send out final decisions before early January.

So I guess we have to wait a couple more weeks.... 👎
 
I knew there was no way they would get us a decision before december ends...ahh well, whats another 2 weeks

My acceptance letter was delivered today (12/27). I seem to remember them saying something about a website we are supposed to access. It was supposed to be delivered with the letter. I could be wrong, but do you remember that or did you get access to that website. Thanks in advance.

Yea, i am guessing they will make decisions this wednesday (jan 4th).

If i don't hear from them by friday I am probably gonna call the office.

Don't worry about not being from the chicago area. I am from AZ and was still accepted. I wish you the best of luck.
 
I'm out of state too (CA). They only accept like 42 out of staters a year. That's ridiculously low for a private school. Don't they know they want us?!?!? Heh.

I'm not sure if I would pick Rush over SLU if I got in. I suppose I'll mull it over if I should be lucky enough to be forced to make that decision. =P

Hmmm...I dont remember anything about a website, and I havent gotten anything in the mail reminding me of one either. Honestly, I havent heard anything since I sent them my check last week.

Personally, after seeing the state of their regular hospital/university webpage, I highly doubt that this is one of those technologically savy schools that would set up a fancy, admitted-potential-students-only website...but thats just my opinion.

To be honest with you, I have to agree. I was very disappointed with their website. Are you planning on going to Rush, or have you not decided yet.

To be honest, i know nothing about SLU...I didn't even apply there.

Right now, my choices are either UIC or Rush, assuming I get into both. (Long shot!)

You can't beat Rush's clinical exposure though.
 
Reading this thread is making me nervous.... for my own interview that is next week :scared:

I never thought that they take so little of out-of-state students 😱

I hate it when I start thinking about starting a "what are my chances thread"

It really doesn't make sense that a private school like Rush accepts so few out of staters. Whereas, I probably got into SLU because I AM an out of stater, since they accept a ton of Californians. =P

I havent decided yet. I'm still waiting on my 1st choice school (final decisions come out in like 2-3 weeks)...if that doesnt work out then I'm most likely going to Rush. What about you?

Also, do you know if Rush has revisit/second look days?

It is between my state school and Rush. I am having a hard time though, because I have heard so many great things about Rush. I am just lucky I am getting the opportunity to choose. What is your top choice. I hope you get into the school that makes you most happy. However, Rush is not a bad school at all.

I interviewed in Nov as well. So how come I still haven't heard from them yet? Did they say they send acceptances and rejections all at once? I just don't recall anymore...it's all a blur. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I'm just too afraid to call the office sometimes...in fear that I will hear something negative (which happened to me twice already 🙁 )
 
I interviewed on Dec 7 so they ought to get back to me within a week or so, right?

My top choice is Pritzker. I got a really good feeling at both schools, but I liked the facilities better at UChicago, and you really cant beat the pass/fail grading system...so right now, I'm leaning towards Pritzker. I guess we'll see what happens.

The only other concern is that Rush has a relatively small endowment, so theres next to no financial aid...which is kinda troubling when you think of how ass expensive of a school it is.

If I'm not mistaken, Rush is Honors/Pass/Fail.

And pewl...i interviewed at rush on dec 7th too.
