Rush Interviewees!!

I just called Rush admissions office. I interviewed on Dec 7th and they said that the final decision was mailed on January 10th. So, people in chicago (like me), should probably be getting it either today or tomorrow.

I think the lady on the phone accidentally let me know what my final decision was...needless to say, I am glad she did.

Best of luck MurDAH! Remember, I got 2 envelopes...so if you get 2 envelopes in the mailbox, then you already know the decision without opening them! Maybe I'll see you at Rush this fall.

Desert i just got the envelope in the mail. Only one, though. I nearly crapped my pants when i saw it.

With shaking hands, I managed to rip the envelope to find that it was an acceptance !!!!

Maybe i WILL see you in the fall as Rush is probably one of my top choices right now.

thanks, mate.

It's in the mail so you should get it by the end of the week latest. When i called them, the lady told me they had mailed my letter on jan 13th (Friday) so i knew to expect it today.

Congrats MurDAH!...and sorry about the envelope scare! I think Rush finds it entertaining that acceptances, waitlists, and rejections are all sent in thin envelopes. I have 3 more schools to hear from and unless I get off the WL at Sinai, I'm moving to Chicago this fall!

Pewl...sorry about Dr. L and Rush....SLU is a great school though.
 
I interviewed Dec 21 with a few other SDNers on here and have not received a decision yet. I know with the holiday they may be a little backed up and all, but I literally get sick everytime I check my mail(i have been for about a week now). I was wondering if anyone who emailed that same date has heard yet. I even called the admissions office today just to check and see if a decision had been made on my file and the secretary told me that I would have to email Jan Schmidt to find that out. What the heck...she told other people!? So I emailed Jan earlier today and have not gotten a response. I hope I hear at least a yeh or neh that a decision has been reached at least by tomorrow.

Just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone else is as impatient at it as I am.

So I got an email from Jan Schmidt stating that a decision was made on my file this past week and my letter went out yesterday, the 20th. I interviewed on Dec 21st for those curious ones out there and am in state.

PLEASE LET IT BE AN ACCEPTANCE!

i think my letter went out on the 20th also (interviewed Dec 7) but I am not in-state. Could you please lemme know when you get yours so i can guage when mine will prob arrive. Thanks and good luck!

so, i've been complete since september and haven't heard anything from rush until i got this email:

Weekly, the Committee on Admissions reviews all complete files to determine which applicants they wish to invite to campus. While we realize your application may have been complete for some time, we appreciate your patience as we continue to consider each application we have received for admission. Rest assured we still have openings in our interview schedule, which will not come to a close until March.

We anticipate our last round of interview invitations will be extended to applicants within the next few weeks. Due to our rolling admissions process, all candidates who are invited to campus have an equal chance of being accepted into our 2006 entering class.

has anybody else gotten this email? is this a courtesy email they send to everybody who's been complete for a while and hasn't heard anything?
 
I've never heard of that email, but it sounds like good news that they interview til March.

On the other hand, I don't understand this line:

I got this same e-mail this morning. I was so psyched to hear ANYTHING from Rush, I have been complete since the end of October and have not heard anything. I figured they don't want people to call them, since the admissions office's phone number is actually hidden somewher on their website. Anyway, I am hoping to interview at Rush, but somehow this e-mail did not give me much hope, since they said they plan to send out the last round of invitations within the next several weeks. i got the same email this morning. i've been complete at rush since august.
 
I received this email too. They're a bunch of teases. Just as I was getting ready to withdraw my application...THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!!
 
Again, Rush and Dr. Loiterstein can kiss my big fat ass. =P

Add me to this creepy email club! In addition to the one from Ms. Schmidt I also received this one....and I thought it was because I had been bugging them so much, but no! I come to find out it was a BULK EMAIL sent to all the poor souls they are stringing along..... 😡

I also received the same email. I have been complete since September. I wonder why they sent it. I hypothesize that Rush was getting alot of withdrawls from the application process due to their slow movement. I guess it is a way of giving us a glimmer of hope. I sure hope I get an interview!!
 
If it helps any, I've been complete at rush since nov. and I *didn't* get this email =) (so clearly there's a group of folks rush cares about EVEN less)
 
I could be totally off, but are all you guys who recieved this e-mail out-of-state? Since Rush gives preference to IL residents (80% of matriculants), maybe the school interviews out-of-staters later in the season?????? 😳

i have lived about 25 miles from rush nearly my entire life....so IL residency is not the issue in my case!

I knew that rush interviewed alot more in-staters but surprisingly more than 3/4 of my fellow interviewees on my interview day (early dec) were out of state. I still havent gotten a decision from them even tho it was supposed to be mailed last friday.... exactly how long does it take for mail to get from chicago to dc? 😕

I interviewed mid/late November and all of the other 14 or so interviewees were in-state. I remember because all of them ripped on me for being cold when it was like 50 degrees outside.

Oh, and I live on the other coast, and it took ten days from the date of the letter to when I got it. I'm guessing early next week for you. Good luck!
 
It takes awhile for mail to reach Rush and vice versa. I live in NYC, and it took 2 weeks for my secondary and a check to get to Rush. I thought it got lost at some point.
 
I havent gotten anything from them in the mail since I sent in my tuition deposit. Is this normal, or should I give them a call about financial aid info, etc?
 
I'll be there. I'm actually quite excited! I just got the email a few days ago.

I sent in my deposit, and it took forever them to acknowledge it. I thought about calling them, but I just waited it out, and I got an email saying they got my deposit a few days ago.
 
So we've got RUSH acceptances, and RUSH rejections. Where are all the other RUSH waitlistees? Come on, no hiding.
 
So, for those of you that got that weird "let us explain why you haven't heard anything, but not really" email from Rush last week, when are you giving up on this interview season? They said that their last round of interview invites would be sent out in the next few weeks. Anyone making a deadline?

Adios, amigos! I mean literally, since I am sure many of us already have in our minds.
 
I guess I will let my application status with Rush just drift away from shore, being pulled out to sea by the ebbing tide under a lonesome moon (Just like Rowf and Snitter at the end of "Plague Dogs").
 
I got that strange email from rush too. I don't quite know what to make of it, I applied to rush last year and heard absolutely nothing from them until I recieved a snail mail rejection letter at the end of april. So I guess it's better than that.

"Rest assured we still have openings in our interview schedule..." Does that mean I'm in a kinda sorta possible interview pool? Or is it more along the lines of well you at least deserve an email since we've already taken your money...?

That's what I would put my money on, OOOOH!! Moreover, I would bet that the status page NEVER CHANGES either! Rejection or disregard, my file will forever be "COMPLETE".

That sounds so peaceful, doesn't it? Complete.....Let's all say it together one time.....COMPLETE....

I think the only way we will know is if we could find out if everyone who hasn't interviewed there HAS received the weird email. If everyone has, then they are giving us a gratuitous email. If only a selective # have, then we are in some sort of "hold" netherworld.

I'm with you Timmy and I think I am giving 2/15 my day to let my app go off to sea. It seems so peaceful.

well, the poll was an *overwhelming* success as you can see.....

Anyway, having only applied to 6 schools and having Rush be the last one standing I guess I am really just having a hard time letting go because after this that's it! No more! Not that I enjoy this whole process so much that I want it to go on forever, but having heard everything there is to hear on the application front I think I will feel weird not having that looming over my head...bored maybe? I finished school to hurry up and take the MCAT, and then I had to work diligently on the AMCAS, and after that were secondaries, then status checks and interviews. Then BAM! It's just over.

Oh well, after Rush bites the dust I have an upcoming interview to ponder and a waitlist to lose sleep over. I guess I am not completely free until at least May anyhow.

I do not want to give up b/c I can't imagine having to go through this awful process again. With only 3 interviews, and one waitlist decision, it is looking like I am the bottom of the barrel applicant. 😕
I don't know why Rush would send out that email if they were not going to consider us for an interview. I mean they could have just let us hang out in never never land until April/May like someone said happened to them last year. I am hoping for an interview with all my might!!!

They didn't give us much info beyond the budget and cost per year. No details because they didn't want to overwhelm us.
 
No information on scholarships during interview or post-acceptance. I filled out my FAFSA and Rush instiutional aid forms and awaiting my aid package which may come in April/May but hopefully there will be scholarship information in there 😀

It would be hard to pass up my hometown state school (and its tuition!) to move to Chicago and pay private tuition (even though I grew up in IL).

Rush is a great school to get a medical education and the students are really happy there. Good luck to those waiting! :luck:
