Hey I just got my interview to RVU! Ill be there October 6 🙂
So, I had my interview a couple of days ago and I think it went well. Some of you are probably interested in some details on the school and the interview process, so here goes!
Oh, and to those currently at RVU who stopped by to chat - thank you. It's nice getting some student input about the school.
Of course the adcom would never tell you guys our specific reviews, but do you think they would give you general information? Like if you stopped by and asked, "How was that first batch of interviewees?" Would they say something like "they all did well," or "there was only one or two we're not sure about,"? Worth a shot? 🙂
Congratulations!
For those of you who like speculating about your odds, and I'm pretty sure everyone does, last year they interviewed 400 applicants and accepted 300 of them.
Brocimus..
Congrats on being done with the interview, hope you hear good news. I interview this Friday and I am just curious if you mind sharing what kinds of questions they asked you? I'm sure the usual, why do you want to be a doctor? Why DO? But were there any off the wall questions or anything that took you by surprise? Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm sure a lot of people found it helpful.
You did a very good job explaining that. I think you may have been mixed up on one thing. Last year over 3000 applied and approx. 300 who applied got interviews, out of those approx. 300 there were 160 excepted.
Check the interview feedback for this school and you will have a very good idea of what to expect. Mostly, they will ask you about your essays and your experiences. Also expect simple, conversational questions like what you do for fun.
Sorry, I am new to this whole thing, could someone tell me where to find the interview feedback for specific schools?
Just received my secondary today - should have it out tonight. Hope to meet some of you soon.
I'm working on mine now, but I'm wondering: how long should our answers be for the "Why D.O.? Why RVU?" questions? With the space given it doesn't seem like they want much of an essay. How long were your answers? Can anyone else add their 2 cents? Thanks!
...I don't really want to have to go to another year of undergrad...what everyone thinks my shot is at being accepted.
Thanks for the input lbgator. I would be skipping what would be my 5th year of undergrad. I will have ~125 credit hours at the end of this year. I have just really been looking forward to medical school for about four years now and so I figured I would look into taking a shot at getting in before completing my undergrad. Also, no coping issues here. I know that you were seriously trying to help but I had to laugh a little. I am happily married and I have enjoyed my four years away from Colorado. The thing is that I am ready to begin the next stage in my life. Another factor is that my mom has MS and has been getting progressively worse each time I have came home to see her. My family means a ton to me and I would like to be closer to home in the event that she may need me (I'm a momma's boy). Again, much thanks for taking the time to evaluate my situation. If you have new comments on my chances after me (hopefully) clarifying some things it would be appreciated. Also, if anyone else can give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the help.
First interview...didn't think I'd ever be able to write that!
My First interview Invite! yay.
I was wondering which airport did u guys arrived to 'cause I'm trying to book an airplane ticket????
Just curious, are there any mountain bikers that are applying to RVU or that currently attend RVU?
Me too, congrats!!!Hey I just got my interview to RVU! Ill be there October 6 🙂
Could any of the current students describe the program at RVU from the academic angle? What classes are you taking, how are the instructors, what is your general overall impression of the school (being so new)? I apologize if this has been discussed, but I searched the RVU website, and couldn't find schedules, or class descriptions? Does the school adopt a PBL (Problem Based Learning), or Clinical Presentation Curriculum, or Traditional approach? Please divulge...

brocimus I think we may have interviewed on the same day? Anxiously awaiting for next week to hear some results!! (keeping fingers crossed)
those interviewing in coming weeks: They really are very relaxed and do everything to make you feel welcome. The current students came in almost all throughout the day to talk to us and answer questions. There were no out of the blue questions in the interview, conversation style and not intimidating. GOodluck to everyone!

I'm waiting to hear from the school this week too about admittance. On the 24th our group was entirely males.I interviewed on the 16th (1/4 females) haha this week could not go by slower....and today is only monday 🙂

Any chance that people who have interviewed might leave "interview feedback"????Weird! There have been at least 3 interview blocks with a very low female to male ratio. I would expect something closer to the near 50-50 of this year's class. If this trend continues, and they try to keep the numbers about equal, all those female applicants have a near guaranteed acceptance!
Any chance that people who have interviewed might leave "interview feedback"????
Only one of the three left feedback about questions....the other two were incomplete...ThanksCheck out the "Interview Feedback" button on the top of the page. Three people have left feedback so far about this years cycle, which seems to be very much in line with the feedback from last year.
By all accounts so far it appears that it is all straightforward with no curve balls.

Awesome, thanks...DPYeah. Sorry about that. I actually took the time and left some really solid feedback. However, somewhere during that process SDN logged me out and none of what I typed in was saved. I was quite frustrated with that and never bothered to go back and re-type all the feedback I left.
Just review your personal statement and your supplemental responses as they tend to focus on that. Prepare to answer why you want to be a D.O. and why you want to go to RVU. No crazy questions or curveballs. Just relax and prepare to have an interesting conversation with some educated and insightful people. That's all there is to it.
I think they told us the adcom was meeting tomorrow and would let us know tomorrow or thursday. I hope I am wrong and it is today!
