Where can I find up to date salary averages for academic/private practice settings distributed by region? (if that exists...)

I'm trying to figure out what a decent starting salary might (and decent offer) based on regional trends.

The real answer is to get your hands on a copy of the annual MGMA Salary Survey. Try your local university or med school library. If you can't find it in the library, ask your hospital's medical recruiting office if they have one kicking around.
