i have a 3.74 gpa from western kentucky. tons of community service and activites. work in hospital as pharm tech.had a dissapointing 57 on pcat but samford doesnt really weigh the pcat as much as other schools.
ive also had an interview at cincy and am waiting to hear from other schools that i applied to.
what are you stats.

Hi nc tradition, you said samford does not care too much about pcat. I have an interview with them probably second week of feb. I havent called to set up the date yet. I have a 4.0 but only a 64 on the pcat. I am worried about my pcat though. could you inform me more about what you know.

My over all Gpa is 3.3... science GPA sightly higher.. but probably pre req Gpa is around 3.65... PCAT = 80 composite...lots of volunteer (not pharmacy)... but just started volunteering in the pharmacy (am in us on f1 so i cant work here...)
PTCB certified...

nothing yet... hoping to hear from them soon....

Okay, so its March 23...has anyone been accepted at Samford? I had my interview earlier this month and I was really impressed with the school...the location, campus (so beautiful), and program. I really hope to hear from them!

I know that vanstudent1986, nc_tradition, and Trailfunk have been accepted so far... you ought to be hearing something from them soon, too (I think it took about 4-6 weeks for me to get a response after my interview last year) Good luck to you

yeah, i actually got an email invitation for an interview for samford...sadly i had to turn it down b/c i had already went on several interviews and was dead broke (i refuse to take out ANY more credit cards) any way the day after i declined the interview i read on SDN that someone said the campus and the area was really nice. 🙁

The letters should be in the mail this week. I'm getting anxious! Maybe we will hear something today or tomorrow at the latest.

I am super anxious too. They had ad com meetings on last friday. I am guessing they should have mailed the letters on monday and today is wednesday. Just crossing my fingers and waiting on the mailman. lol

Oh i just read pm by Triple P who emailed Mr. Foster at Samford to know about the status of the letter. Mr. Foster replied saying that letter were out on Tuesday monring. Now you do the math. For me , I do not think that i will get the letter today which was posted yesterday. So i will have to wait on letter on thursday or maybe Friday.

Dave, iam on an F1 just like you. I wanted to ask you how did you become PTCB certified? did you buy the material, studied for it and passed it? if so, what material did you use?

Well.. i just went to my public library and got one pharmacy technician book... you just gotta know basic pharmacy calculations and sig codes used in prescriptions...
They have quite a few questions on hospital setting on the exam so i guess book is required..

i gave the exam last september, i don;t know if anything has changed drastically....

if you have any more questions... let me know...

I got the acceptance letter from Samford on Friday. Now weighing the pros and cons of going to USN and SAMFORD.
Not sure which one is the good option though.

I'm on the wait list. They said that they would let me know by May 4th. But, there was also a page stating that I needed another hour of physical education activity. I thought it must have been a mistake, but Bruce said that I had taken 1hr of jogging and 2hr of First Aid and that First Aid didn't count for Samford. I almost died!! So, if I get accepted...I will have to take a p.e. in June. He said it has to be completed by August 2007. So, I don't know if I will get accepted b/c of this. I cannot believe that they are just now telling me this. Who could have known about this?? Oh well, I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed and wait a little longer.

Have they assigned you a waitlist # yet? That is pretty crappy about the PE thing...would you be able to get the credit in over the summer? Please keep us updated on how things are going!

No, the letter just says that they aren't ready to make a decision right now. So, technically it's not wait list. Triple P also received the same letter...so I don't know the deal. It says that they will let me know by May 4th. I think that is bad news, but atleast I got into somewhere (Nova). I am thankful for that! I've checked with the CC I graduated from and a 4 year school that I attend now...both offer PE this summer. So, yes I could do it this summer, but it would suck dearly!!!!
