Only if everyone actually follows gun restrictions.

It is silly to use specific cases as an example of a bad law to change another law. Every law should be addressed base on its merit.

True. Police are still brutalizing/abusing/murdering Black people for no reason despite being illegal.

I suppose arming Black people to the teeth with firearms and rising up against a tyrannical police state is an elegant solution rooted in the constitution.

So much for blue lives matter. 2nd amendment >> *

Imagine what they would do if they know you can’t protect yourself and your family?

What is stopping them from destroying residential neighborhood? Your house is your fortress. You have the advantage and they know it.

You may not have experienced it or think it cant happen but it has happened repeatedly throughout history.

What a bizarre argument. If the rioters were armed (as is their constitutional right) you would be totally unable to stop them from doing whatever they wanted to your fortress. You would be totally outnumbered/outgunned. I don’t think my house is safer because the routers think I am armed.

But you do you. I am sure being armed is totally keeping your family safe. What are the statistics on keeping a gun in the house btw? Totally safer than not being armed I assume?

Everyone here is against police brutality. If you acted unlawfully then you need to be prosecuted and be judged.

If you feel the need to bare arms then be my guest. I am not advocating for taking away your constitutional right. I hope I get the same respect from you.

I guess you have not seen videos of the LA riot.

I live in California and love it. I dont get this whole anti california non sense. I've lived in 5 other states and the cost of living is not that much more. So much to do around here, the social scene is great, women are beautiful, and the restaurant scene is amazing. What freedom do you get in a ****hole like Mississippi or alabama that you dont get here. If anything some laws ie marijuana are alot more lax here.

Of course, If you look at things from a macro level this whole country is controlled by corporate socialism. Corporations have way too much control over our government and need to be broken up and regulated ASAP.

I never understood guns. What kind of situation and how often does a person need an assault rifle to defend themselves? No one in my family or extended family has ever owned a gun before nor have we felt the need to.

Let me help you out. Beside hunting and target shooting, there is self defense. Try living in a high crime area with a poor police force. That gun can can save your life. I have. Be careful how you define what others needs. My gun ownership benefits my community without negatively impacting it ie jobs from gun related businesses, sales tax. However, the behaviors of others i.e vaping or smoking or drinking are a net negative.

Okay but how many pharmacists here live in a high crime area? Is a rifle necessary vs a handgun?

...when the mob is out for blood. The French Revolution might have been stopped if the rich had assault rifles. Learn your history people.

Unless the guards with guns and swords pointed them back at the First Estate, which they did. History protip to avoid rebellion: don't starve your populace, especially veterans. Don't stiff your veterans a fair paycheck.

Not until recently thanks to the pullback. Police response time is not as agile right now due to the situation. Multiple break-ins and one opportunistic group of rioters (basically neighbors whose kids wanted to do some vandalism) in the past three months.

It's not a rock-paper-scissors game with guns. Any of them are fatally useful if used correctly. I personally will never use a handgun in a home defense situation as my aim under pressure is terrible (my aim with a pistol standing is not great either). Aside from the annual deer hunt, we use a Benelli M4 standard 5 shot with a Trijicon night sight for my wife and me. Simple to chamber, operationally simple to shoot by both of us, recoil isn't terrible, penetration beyond home is a low risk, hard to miss, and unmistakable that a gun was fired nearby unlike the firecracker sounding pistols. I recommend that or a Mossberg 500-series as the guns have utility beyond home defense but are simple enough to learn quickly to shoot at an acceptable accuracy and control.

If I were in AZ, I probably wouldn't need this as herd immunity in the neighborhood assumes that everyone is armed (the local ward certainly was). In MN, I don't want to take chances (and contrary to certain people, the Use of Force in MN is not ridiculous) and I'm not willing to hire security guard patrols like some of my neighbors. The service costs around $9k per household in my area annually for General Security Services Corp patrols.

I am only worried about 1 pharmacist, Do we really limit us citizens to only what they need? That argument is such BS. Why do we allow people to own multiple vehicles which pollute the environment or multiple houses which creates habitat destruction? I tend to vote democratic, but when some democratic politician starts talking gun control. I vote for their opponent. Don't limit my freedom.

Huh? I didn't mention any of those things that you're talking about. I'm just asking in what situation would one need a rifle vs a hand gun. I have no interest in guns. I don't care who you vote for.

Sorry, I thought I made that clear. It’s because it is so hypocritical. Would you REALLY shot a police officer or a soldier? Because that is what you would have to do to protect yourself from a tyrannical government. I notice you didn’t address that though, which I more or less expected.
Okay, so if a Cop abuses their own power like entering into a house without a search warrant. Is it okay? Is it okay that Ahmad Aubrey was targeted by ex cops because of his apparel and the color of his skin. If Ahmad had a gun while jogging, he would be alive right now. I believe guns should be used for self defense if anyone even a cop ventures on your property threatening your lives. Especially now a days, where cops are shooting first and asking questions later.

The hypocrisy is that the blue states with stricter gun controls have the highest crime rates. For example, New York and Cali. Gun control mostly punishes the law abiding citizens because the crazy nut jobs which do not represent all gun owners do whatever means necessary to get any kind of militarized weapon. Anyways, let’s get back to doom and gloom Pharmacy.

That's your typical statement the pro gun-control side loves to use. "Why do you NEED this, nobody NEEDS that.." like we call it the Bill of Needs and not the Bill of Rights.

Not sure, but we should be getting back to discussing the deteriorating wages and doom and gloom instead of gun control
I feel like my comment was missed. Everyone should be banned for trolling because they're not staying on topic and discussing doom and gloom...

i don't get how one can be so arrogant to assume that if they are defending their home with a gun, the intruder isn't going to outsmart and outgun them.

Your assumption that gun owners haven't considered this. In the end, having a gun is still better. What is your plan when your life is threatened by an intruder? Run?

In the community I lived in, there were multiple incidents of intruders being shot by homeowners when they became threatening and then an incident in which a homeowner lost their life to a gang member who was spraying graffiti on their fence. You make a plan when the threat is real.

just saying people make lofty assumptions about how protected they are and will be with a gun. when it could be turned against you or you aren't even able to access a gun when there's already one pointed at your face.

This is why you have a gun stashed in every single room, including in the shower, instead of being locked away in a safe.

Ahh the Benelli M4. Not for poor folk! Gotta love semi auto shotguns.

Really? It was $1300 and another $100 for the sight a decade ago, so not that expensive. We have two of them, and they make for great bird hunting shotguns (I prefer other guns for bucks). Looking it up now, it's only $1,800, well within a reasonable expense for a quality shotgun. It's definitely not Sears-cheap, but it's not that pricey. It's also easy to train someone who isn't used to shooting to service, aim, fire, and reload even in stress situations.

And I don't make high assumptions for protection, but it's better than nothing. We do live outside of the usual crime zones, but police have retreated from almost all areas that are not cop neighborhoods. Response times are double what they normally are (and I do not live in Minneapolis proper, I live in a suburb that is police-friendly). Most of the problems are from the city coming into the suburbs as opportunists. Unless the attacker has a drop on you (which is unlikely), that should delay long enough for even fat, lazy, suburban cops to come with backup.

Very interesting topic....anyone ever been so scared that their roscoe is shaking in their hand? Torched off a round by accident? (Glocks can be bad that way..basically unsafe). Had their precious 1k roscoe .....dropped... taken away by some street meanie..(I actually did this and am always tempted)...slammed into terminal evidence. Been so dark ya can't see the sights? By some miracle avoided shooting the wrong person? At the most...a twelve bore at home..empty chamber..and the first into the floor...

Just ruminating about the possibility of techs being replaced by $30/hr pharmacists in chain retail

The main problem here is 9 out of 10 pharmacists can't even run the in window without major handholding and 9 out of 10 techs don't have the attention to detail or give-a-**** necessary to minimize problems and maintain regulatory compliance, to speak nothing of diversion

E.g., ordering IR levetiracetam instead of ER levetiracetam or figuring out what to do if something is OOS (uh call the pt? Find the product somewhere else?)

WVU mentioned that a few weeks ago and I've been thinking a lot about that scenario. It's really interesting IMO. Imagine 1 pharmacist with 2 techs and how limited that can be. But if you had 3 pharmacists then that means 3 employees who can counsel, give shots, take verbal orders, do transfers, etc.

I know all these wide eyed students believe that they're being paid to counsel and do MTM but when the state mandates that act there's no sense in paying someone to do it.

The intruder is going to outsmart and outgun 100% of the time when you don’t have a gun.

When was the last time someone attacked a homeowner in your neighborhood? Funny that you don't recommend life insurance because the odds are against it, but recommend a gun to defend against home attackers. I'm pretty sure there have been no attacks in the past 30 years where I live, but there have been plenty of unexpected deaths where life insurance came in handy.

You get can get a gun for $200-400.

Guns are insurance against needing life insurance for certain causes of death- violent crime.

Well hey, that's the perfect reason to ban everyone in the entire country from owning a certain type of gun... because YOU don't see the purpose of needing it... because nobody in YOUR neighborhood has been attacked in 30 years.

LoL why do you keep bringing up politics? I never said anything about banning guns ever.

Guns are also a reverse life insurance for certain kinds of death. I wonder which death is more likely, statistically speaking.

I remember this one. Good thing her technique sucked.

Not sure how you figure you can tell my tone by a post. I can assure you that neither you, nor anyone can "trigger" me, especially online of all places.

Well for one, I asked a simple question and then you went on a rant about the Constitution, gun control and the Bill of rights. I really don't care about gun control or if you own a gun, have at it. And that John guy told me not to limit his freedom. Relax guys, I'm not out to get you or limit your freedom. Sheesh.

I was just simply stating that it's the usual pro-gun control cry of what someone else does or does not need based off of their own personal experiences.

Why did someone revive this thread to change it back to the OP's subject?

Let's get this topic back derailed on the gun tangent. The thing many city folk don't realize, huge swaths of the US is in rural or semi-rural areas, and there are lots of wild animals (wolves, bobcats, rabid raccoons, neighbor's pitbull, giant cockroaches in TX), that one might need to defend themselves against. I really think gun rights groups should focus more on this, because in most areas of the country, needing a gun to defend against wildlife, is more likely than needing a gun against another human.

How often does a person get attacked by that kind of wildlife? Is this like those rare shark attacks? Might as well arm yourself each time you swim at the beach.
