Hi all,

I hope everyone's cycles are turning out well! As traffic day approaches, I wanted to prepare myself for any waitlist movement should it occur. Right now, I'm sitting on UB's, Einstein's (not HPWL), and Brown's waitlists, with the latter two schools being more preferable than my current options (holding onto UB unless they can provide better aid than my current options). I loved both Einstein and Brown and would be ecstatic to attend either, but I understand that by being on Einstein's regular waitlist, my chances are pretty low. Knowing that, I decided to write a strong letter of intent to Brown (citing specific programs and resources unique to them that fit well with my interests).

I guess my questions are, does anyone know which schools have the least/most waitlist movement, and when I should expect traffic day waitlist movement to stop?

Thanks!

waitlist traffic tapers off about late June however there is stillsome movement up until orientation begins as student with medical, family, or loan issues are forced defer at last minute
Is the most waitlist movement in the first few weeks of May?

I am wondering this too. I am on a couple waitlists and am planning a trip to Europe from June to July. If I somehow get off the waitlist during then, what if I am unable to respond right away? I am not sure I will have the same phone number etc.

You can inform the school to contact a person you have designated to respond on your behalf.

Very roughly there are 3 waves as declined acceptances cascade thru the system: 2nd week May, last week May, 2nd week June. By July 1, the majority of movement is over. However, it will still continue slowly right up thru August. There are always a few alternates who have accepted the fact that they wont get in this term, get a call the weekend before classes start.

Some 20 years ago when an applicant asked when they could take a vacation during the cycle, my response was a firm, don't. Now with email and cell phone, that shouldnt be an issue. I presume you are getting a cell phone for the trip in Europe and wont have the number yet. I suggest that you send an email to each school that you are an alternate at with the dates you will be traveling. Then send a second email with the temporary phone number. I suggest that you figure out if you can check your voicemail via your cell phone carriers website so you can check it each and everyday and check your email each and everyday. Additionally, I suggest that you have someone at home open your mail.
Thanks. First wave is the second week in may because it takes schools awhile to process everybody who declines their apps during the very last day in April/first day in may?
