Scramble Advisory

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Beat me to it...I was just about to post the same thing.

ERAS....you suck!!!

At least they didn't make the title "wow you suck so much that you probably won't match...so here are some pointers on the scramble"

Here's how I translated the message. "We know you are scared to death for the next 2 weeks so here's some good news. When you have to scramble..... Not that we are implying anything about your status." I'm going to do a research project on the increase in heart attacks among med students during the pre-match period.

I nearly peed myself upon reading that.

I think that's the first time I ever whined or whimpered while reading something on a computer. Ugh, all this stress just to see four magic words on the 16th... then we can start worrying about where we matched.

What time did you receive your "scramble advisory" email? I heard that unmatched people receive this email "a few hours" after the matched people? I received mine at ~4PM Central time..

4:35 pm Eastern...
I doubt that there's any truth to that, unmatched getting it later...

Mine went straight to my junk mail folder...I had to search for it. Got it at 3:35 central, 4:35 eastern.

I heard that if your last name has the letter "p" in it then your anus will fall off on a thursday afternoon...

That's not very nice, but still pretty funny. Funnier is that people are checking...

Not that I'm immune to the craziness -- the email from ERAS did scare the crap out of me for a moment.

Is there anybody who received the email at a time other than 3:35PM/4:35PM (Central/Eastern) time?

3:47 Central--12 minutes after everyone else. Now I'm totally scared that I'm going to have to scramble! 😉

Will add to the panic. My email client is showing:
Message created: 3:35 pm CT
Message received: 3:41 pm CT

Everybody's gonna scramble! Mahahahaha! 🙂

I would rather have that than not match. 😛

compared to what I've gotten from my school! To hear them talk we're all going to scramble. On the plus side, should I scramble, I know how every minute of every day will be spent because THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE THE SCHEDULE. As in, if I find out that I'm unmatched at 12 noon, then I already have an automatic appointment with the coordinator person at 12:30, followed by meeting with the dean at 1:30, etc etc etc.

Wow, that's more than mine. we got an email saying EVERYONE in the NRMP match has to send contact phone numbers to someone in the office so they can contact us if we're unmatched. As if my anxiety isn't high enough already.

That's actually really awesome of them. Because those unlucky people otherwise would be so snowed by the news they would have no idea what to do next... in this case, though, it's been drilled into them. In between all of the "omg omg omg omg I didn't match my family is going to kill me and what do I tell that ******* Steve from my dissection group when omg omg omg omg" is a calm, subconscious "go..to...coordinator..12:30..."

Bdoc is totally right.

If your med school is sending out lots of emails about the scramble, etc. to all students then it means they are on their game.
