I just wondering do we need to send recomendation letters always in a sealed envelope or is it okay to apply colleges without sealed envelope.
some colleges are asking recomendation letters with notarized or xerox copies.
i am confused since i have brought letters with out a sealed envelope.

Appreciate any replies in this regards.

it was an issue with me too when i was applying to various schools. as far as upenn ,nyu and boston is concerned they dont need sealed ones.i personally applied in only these schools so i dont know about the other ones.
a better way to deal with this is to call the school directly n ask them about it.
hope this helps

The only 2 schools that I'm aware of that need the letters in original sealed envelopes are:

1. University of Pittsburgh
2. Columbia University

As far as whether the letters must be original or notarized (meaning you have them photocopied and notarized), you have to check with the schools to which you are applying.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
