Secondary essays - 'specific challenge' vs. 'challenges'

Hi all,

So I've drafted an essay to use for secondaries that ask for a 'specific challenge,' etc. But some other schools ask about 'obstacles or challenges' in the plural. Would an essay about one specific challenge be appropriate for these schools too, or are they looking for multiple challenges or something more general?
