Am I late in the process? I know that application deadlines extend to march at some schools, but I get the feeling that everyone already has interviews. Are some schools, specifically SUNY, NECO, and PCO already filling up their classes? :scared:

If it makes you feel any better, I'm completing my application this week. My transcripts and letters of recommendation are in but they're still waiting for my essays etc. I think the lucky people that are getting interviews are getting them because they took the OAT last october or february. People like myself, who just took the OAT this october and won't get their results for another 2-3 weeks won't get their applications reviewed until the OAT scores are getting their stuff in right about now...

do you guys normally get reference or ask for reference letter the yr before you apply? In my case, I have to wait until the term is over until I get to ask the profs for reference. SO I guess I won't get my application reviewed until those go in.

I just filled out two applications online and now I am just waiting for the health professions committee at my school to send my recommendations, which might take them forever! I just took the OAT in Oct. Do admissions committees review applications before the OAT scores come in?

I believe most of them do. I haven?t heard of a school that would hold the reviewing of applications until after the OAT scores are in. You may even get an interview invite before your H.P. committee letter is sent.

i was granted an interview before my evaluations and essay were submitted. i also know some people who got interviews before their oat scores were turned in. i think most schools begin reviewing applicants when you turn in your preliminary application and, of course, the application fee.

So it's okay if your transcripts and reference letters get there before your main application?

yup...they'll create a file for you and place everything that they received regarding your application in there...

my oat scores and transcripts were sent to schools before i even received an application...

At least for SUNY, they will interview without OAT scores and letters of rec, but not without your application. It took about 2 weeks after I submitted my part online to get an invitation. I would definitely get your transcripts there, but the letters didn't seem so important at my interview.

ICO's secondary application/interview invitation includes a list of the stuff they're still missing, and they request you get everything in before the interview date. I have no idea how binding that is, but at best you'll get a conditional acceptance maybe.

And I think (but I'm not sure) that SCCO won't interview you until OAT scores are out and your letters of rec are in. I thought NECO was the same. All I got from them was a card saying what I was still missing from my file.

Hope that helps,

So sad that my school does not have a pre health committee!! Now I need to try to get the professor's attention in a class of 250+ students!! Grml grml.

Normally around how long after you sent in your application will you get SOME sort of reply regarding a checklist, interview etc?

THanx! =)

I talked to Dawn from SCCO and she said that they are only inviting people with OAT scores from Feb. and people who are reapplying right now. The Dean won't look at anyone else's application until mid-Nov to early-Dec.

ICO sent me a postcard within two weeks with a checklist of what they have received for my preliminary application... got a secondary application and interview about a month later...

as long as you get it in within a few months before deadline, it should be fine
