Okay, Seriously, too many booths, too many choices, and too closterphobic an enviornment to make a residency decision!! Did anyone go to the midyear and walk away with a difinitive decision as to where you want to apply??

There has got to be a better way!!!

it's in VEGAS

enjoy yourself 🙄

Yup, narrowed down the choices a lot. Working on my apps now.

Don't put any pressure on yourself to make the decision while you're there...just take the opportunity to interact with them and obtain whatever information you need. Generally you'll come away with an impression (good or bad) about the program; although you're right, it's hard to judge in that kind of a setting. Just write down your notes and consider your options when you get home...you'll be able to think clearer away from the Vegas lights. 😉 Good luck! It's a big decision...but you're headed in the right direction 🙂

I hear this conference set the record for the % of student attendees..

It's a great thing!

Then again...I don't know... are there that many clinical jobs???

j/k

I can tell you this... there is a serious shortage of qualified directors and clinical managers...

Well...the student population continues to grow. And Vegas vs. Anaheim may have something to do with it. 😉 But yeah, pretty cool 👍

I know a ton of people who went who are not actually interested in residency at all. Vegas Baby. Seriously, a good time. Also a lot of people say then want to apply but dont actaully do it when they see the amount of work it takes to do it all.

I was overwhelmed also, but I have the luxury of being a second year student, so I guess it should help me be more prepared for the madness that is the showcase next year and my 4th year. At least I am hoping that it will help

Midyear definately helped me narrow down my choices. I think I'll be applying to 6 programs and will start working on the apps ASAP. I only looked at 8 or so residency programs since I had already narrowed down my search (looking to do a PGY2 in critical care so looking for more an inpatient setting which would allow me to have electives in an acute care setting). I had organized my questions for each site in a chart and asked each of the prospective sites the same questions and took notes in between visiting each of the booths. I think if I hadn't of been so organized it would have been more stressful. The group that I went with got a lot out of the showcase.

that's 'cause they're being given assigments on the top 50 IV drugs in a hospital!!!!!

Good gosh! There really are more important things to learn as a pharmacy student!

I actually had a new grad dispense Capex (an old, old drug) in my retail location without putting in the contents of the capsule. The patient called & wanted to know what to do with it.

Oh my gosh - not enough good education out there....not that this is a clinical manager or dop issue - just a regular old pharmacist issue, which even clinical managers or dops have to jump in & do on an occasional basis.
