Not sure if this is true but I find that stocks go down anytime there's an acquisition.

Honestly I didn't do any DD until now. This is a big deal. Ultrasound machines right now are compartmentalized (one machine for the heart, one for babies etc) and can't be used on a phone or tablet. This will definitely disrupt the industry.

I first noticed it in WSB someone saying they woke up a millionaire with it. Then I talked to a friend who has had some great picks in the past (and who i owe a lot of my gains to) like 400 shares of SHOP at 90 and TSLA at 150 pre-split....AMD enough to pay for his first kid's college education. He mentioned currently having 1000 shares each of PLTR, NIO, and CRSR.

I realize you and anyone else here have no reason to trust a thing he does as a stranger, but for me...if he says he has 1000 shares in CRSR I'm willing to buy at least a couple. I've made too much off his recs to ignore, but do your own due diligence people.

Daaaang, y'all are ballsy for buying like 100+ shares at a time. Or maybe I'm just a wimp; I've only been buying 10-20 shares here and there 🙈

I had to do some more research on LGVW so I missed the slight dip today, but I prob will be buying tmrw to add to my long hold portfolio of NIO, PLTR, and LI.

Also, thank you all for helping a stock noob like me guide my investment decisions (esp @mentos and @msweph)!

How did you decide on LI? I still haven't held onto a second EV stock. If I did it would probably be XPEV or TSLA but I feel like I'm too late on those.
 
I don't know how many of you take into account the fear factor, but one of those Buffet quotes that stays with me is to be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy.

That said, I noticed that this is the first time this year I'm seeing the fear index hit extreme greed. I may just hold and wait until the end of the year.

NIO - 416 shares avg $36 (I kept buying more as it dipped)
SBE - 314 shares avg $15.84
FSR - 101 shares avg $13.97
WKHS - 68 shares avg $27.41 (got into this late even though I have been looking at it for a while) -- riskiest of them all, but great potential for 1-3 years IMO

Just started a dividend investment account. Bought 10 shares of SCHD this morning @ $64.41/share... I plan to buy 12k of SCHD every year starting next year for 10-15 yrs.
 
Bought 30 [email protected]. I'm an idiot for selling yesterday.

Have another $475 left to buy today. Will probably get more LGVW or PLTR. PLTR never dips!

It dipped last Friday at ~5%. It will probably dip this Friday if I had to guess. It looks like my covered calls will be exercised and ill be out with ~50% profit.

Will look to sell puts below current price and hopefully buy back in on a dip with that strategy. Otherwise, may wait until share lock-up ends and hopefully catch a dip. If not oh well, Looking to only use my gains at this point. It has had a hefty run-up and valuations are scary, but so is everything that is on fire at this point.

Yeah we talk about Tesla too. Are you suggesting we only invest in Apple? It hasn't gone anywhere in 3 months. Meanwhile NIO and PLTR have more than doubled since then.

Your comparison to crypto is not valid. These stocks are real companies, run by real people with real products, sales and earnings reports. Crypto is imaginary currency with magical value?

Sadly I'm over 40 and I actually *do* remember most of those.

As with any new/emerging technology, there will be a few winners and many losers - I assume the EV market will be no different.

This is simply a stock trading thread, not a "how to invest conservatively for retirement" thread (there are plenty of those already).

P.S. I noticed you just joined an hour ago... welcome to the forum!! 😀

Yes. I'm the one that told everyone about PLTR when it was $10. I've been in since IPO. There was no hype about it back then. It's not too late to get in, still undervalued.

I think most of us do that while having a 10-20% of our $$$ on speculative stocks... FWIW, mine is ~5%.

Almost all of my money are on S&P index funds and real estate.

I think the potential for crypto in the future is pretty strong. There is a foundation behind it and with government stability a growing question, people are going to gravitate towards decentralized currency like crypto. That said, its been a nightmare for tax reporting...especially once venturing beyond the big 2 of BTC and ETH. I feel like when the IRS eventually develops the capabilities to track historical crypto transactions...theres going to be a reckoning and it might get ugly. They've already made huge advances in the past 2 years using outsourced help. Its a bummer the IRS treats crypto as stocks or property rather than true currency.
 
WTH is going on with pltr. Just keeps shooting to the moon. Upset I sold covered calls lol.

Bought 16 more @ 29.40. I have the worst timing but still up over 100%!

Tell me about it. Had i just waited one more day to sell covered calls i could have realized much more profit. If i get called on my positions as it stands ill have made 57% on ~13k investment in <1 month. I'll take that any day of the week.
 
I’ve been back at work, hence less participatory but I agree with mentos and others that only talking about stocks to buy and hold for 30 years is super boring.

I should have bought PLTR 3 weeks ago when y’all recommended it.

Anyone still holding any ADOM? I have 9000 shares at a cost basis of $0.41 - I’m going to sell if it hits a buck and if not let it ride until it does or it folds
 
Never sell PLTR until it reachs 100. Continue building my position as much as i can.

I made 57% on a ~13k investment. I have 800 shares. Technically, I have made nothing as the covered calls haven't been exercised. 4 expire 12/4 and the other 4 12/18.

I didn't buy ADOM until .64 so I dumped at .69 when it took a nosedive yesterday. Went from like .94 to .69 in a few minutes wtf! No more pink slips for me.

Better hope it hits 1 buck... I wouldn't hold it for too long if I had it... 50% profit would have been good enough for me.

Can someone explain how warrants work? Are they worth getting vs buying shares?
