Should I address my Verbal Score on PS?

I would mention your background just so the adcoms can get to know you, but let them connect the dots themselves... don't make a peep about your MCAT score on your PS.

Don't waste the space... there is a spot on the AMCAS to list your parents highest level of education and there is a spot to list the languages you speak including a way to specify that they are spoken at home. Also, you will have listed your ethnicity... an adcom can connect the dots and use it to explain your low Verbal score. On the other hand, they may question whether your score is high enough for success at their school. No "excuse" is going to help if they feel that the score is predictive of a struggle in medical school. See how this cycle goes and plan to retake in 2014 if you don't have interviews by December.

So don't mention verbal score and don't mention my parents background? The reason why I decided to put that info about my parents on my PS is because I feel that it reflects the majority of people that live in my town.. I connected that to the health disparities I have faced (and how that has driven my goal of becoming a doctor).

If you want to make it easy for the adcom by pointing out the weaknesses in your application and drawing attention to those rather than drawing attention to your strengths and your aspirations, be my guest, but I would not be advising others to do the same.
