Should I ask a top choice school for a later interview?

I received an interview invite to one of my top choices, which I am super excited about. However, they have given me one date and want me to let them know whether that works. The date in question is towards the end of October, and would probably end up being my first interview.

I had hoped to interview at another school before this one, but I doubt any new interviews I get would be scheduled for mid-October. Should I ask my top choice for a different date?

If it matters, this is an MSTP program that doesn't do rolling admissions.

MSTP doesn't generally offer as many interview dates so you might want to grab what you are offered.

Asking to put it off might be misinterpreted as lack of interest in the program.

If you delay the interview & end up with another invitation for the same day(s) you may end up with one less interview than you would otherwise and that can be the difference between one offer of admission or none at all.

Alright, thanks! Guess I'll just try to do a few practice interviews beforehand.

Really? I am postponing several interviews until mid december as I will be able to drive to some and the cost of flying from my home town will be much cheaper. I am also tired of missing so much school. Will it really be thought of as lack of interest because there are some I definitely would like to go to.

If you are tired out from so many interviews to date, you've got no worries.
