I am in my junior year of undergrad. I didn't have a great start freshman year but i have greatly improved my study habits. My grades in the sciences/maths so far have been:

Bio 1 and lab - C+
Bio 2 and lab - B-
Genetics and lab - B+

Gen Chem 1 and lab - B+/A-
Gen Chem 2 and lab - B+/B+
Orgo 1 and lab - B/B
Orgo 2 and lab - A/A
Analytical Chem - B- (I took this because i thought it might be interesting, it worked against me though)

Calc 1 - A-
Calc 2 - B
Stats - A-

Physics 1 and lab - B/B
Physics 2 and lab - A/A

This semester I am taking Neurobiology, Human Physiology, Nutrition (ABIO 117, i am taking this just because i have extra room in my schedule and it will be an easy A toward my bcpm gpa), and Reading Literature

I am also volunteering 12 hours per week as an EMT and volunteering 7 hours per week in the hospital.

I know my grades arent too hot right now but I have found the best way to study for me last year and am planning to pull it way up over the next four semesters (i am planning to apply after senior year)

During the summer or senior year I am also planning on doing research and if possibly, shadow some doctors.

Any other advice that you can give me that might look really good or help my chances?

I would definitely suggest shadowing a few doctors before next summer (assuming that's when you are applying.)

I think this would help with LORs and to show that you've experienced what it's like to be a physician.

Winter and spring breaks would be great times to do this.

Some nonmedical, noncampus community service is helpful, as would be any leadership or teaching role you take on.

Don't get so over-involved that you let your grades suffer. There's nothing sacred about applying after junior or senior year. Apply when you're ready, and your application is the best you can make it.
