I'm not sure if I should identify as a homosexual when prompted on secondaries. I've always kept this a secret as my family is very homophobic. My sexuality has never influenced my path to medicine but it does make me more sympathetic to people of all different backgrounds. My concern is being outted publicly to my family sometime later in life or coming off as disingenuous as I've never done anything with the LGTBQ community. Any advice is appreciated...
If you were my student, I would advise you that you have to be comfortable in your own skin.
