Should I Just Give Up?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you didn't get A's because you were 1. lazy, 2. you tried your best but the outcome just doesn't agree? which one is it?

if your answer is 1, then no advice there you know what to do. if your answer is 2, then perhaps you can use college's tutor system. most of them have helpers within school community to help you w/ specific subjects.

you can't give up get. you are in your first year or the second. you have plenty of time to improve upon yourself. i had a D in organic first semester of sophomore year, but i retook it got an A in both 1 and 2. i dont know why i got that D. sometimes things just dont fall in place for you. but soon or later if you try hard enough soon it will fall in the right places. i know it seem discouraging but giving up is not an answer. try it out for another year or two then you can see for sure whether this is right for you. i hope it helps.

hey bruinized!
of course you can't give up! see, i've had it worse than you. I went to ucla too..just graduated last year. My first quarter at ucla was HORRIBLE..i failed both math 31A and chem 20A (got D's in both) and didnt even have a good reason for it other than i wasnt prepared. i think my pharmcas math gpa was a 2.7 or something horrible like that. but i switched down to the 3 series after 31A. i graduated with like 5 C's, all in the science pre-reqs (LS2, ochem, etc.) But lucky for me, i loved my upper div classes (i was an MCDB major) and ended up kicking ass my last two years. i also made sure i was involved in different activities (ie sorority, community service etc.), dedicated my senior year to research and volunteered at a pharmacy for 8 months before applying. a lot of schools look for improvement so you see, you cant give up...you've barely started school and you still have 3 years left to do something spectacular!!! also, for the sciences, you mite want to consider getting tutoring at covel or from AAP. i know it helped me A LOT (changed my C's to A's) especially when it came to LS 4 and chem 153.
dont give up!!! oh yeah...keep up with the SRP. you can later do a 199 or 190 research project in your major (its killing two birds with one stone because you get research experience and upper div credit)
you can pm me if you have any questions...i have tons to say when it comes to picking yourself back up from a rocky start at UCLA 🙂

I think you have to work on your math 1st because it is the root of almost all natural science at college level. Make sure that you challenge yourself at College Level math, like algebra, trigonometry, and basic calculus.
I realize that it suuuuuck for ca students because it seems like they didn't get enough math educatoin at high school and thus, it has taken its toll on college works.

perhaps, you're gonna need to work tripple times harder this time around. I worked 3 times harder too at HS and during my 1st year college, I could relax a little bit coz I already did learn hard during hS

I would definitely start work in the spelling department. I would like to assume you don't write like that in real life but the "teen chat" type of writing makes your posts almost unbearable to read. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

You shouldn't give up, but you should retake those classes. The incoming pharmacy classes are downright scary in terms of how competitive they are and you need every advantage you can get.

so is there ne one out there who was in a similar situation but ended up getting into pharm skool? particularly USC's? and do u think i still have a shot even tho my math gpa will be 2.0 if i get a C for my summer math class? oh yah if ne of u went to UCLA, wut was ur major?

btw, i want to thank dloi for taking the time to talk to me...she reely calmed my nerves. 🙂
