So I was thinking about going to pharmacy school instead of MD/DO, and decided to take physiology this term, I realize that I'm not going to do pharmacy, and will do MD/DO, so to keep this short, I lost motivation and basically didn't go to class after the first exam, the professor taught from powerpoints and I learned nothing.

I'm trying to drop the class, but might not be able to, and at this point I'm looking at studying a LOT to get a D+, getting a C would mean I get 100 on everything from this point on, which won't happen. Should I just take the F and move on?

I'd drop it, you get an F and you absolutely have to retake it. Might as well drop it and do it over the summer especially since its not a pre-req for medical school. Physiology will affect your science GPA as well.

This. Just drop it and retake it. Good luck.👍

I'm trying to drop it but my school might not let me, last term I dropped a class due to medical reasons but didn't do a medical drop. And I have absolutely no documentation of my medical problems. (Wrecked my motorcycle, didn't call the cops or ever see a doctor about it).

Since it's not required, would I have to retake it?

Uh, do you really think med schools aren't going to be concerned about an unremediated F on your transcript? ...especially in a course that is DIRECTLY relevant to medicine, it's not like you failed mid-20th century american drama or something.

This^. There is no "take the F and move on". It will follow you around and will cause serious damage to a great GPA. If at all possible, DROP THE COURSE! If you can't, do your best and retake again. I suspect an F in physiology will most certainly come up in an interview.

I'm pretty sure schools have to let you drop. They don't however have to let you drop without a W or let you drop without a W and indicate that you were failing at the time you dropped the class.

Drop and get a W if you can. If not get the C, DO NOT GET AN F

Does your school offer a force withdrawal? At my university there is a force withdrawal program. Each student gets 6 credits that they can withdraw from for any reason. You do not get a penalty grade, just a W. You should research this at your school and see if there is anything like this.

Yah, do everything and anything to drop it, including speaking with the dean or assistant dean.

Yes, definitely do EVERYTHING you can to drop the class if possible.

Dropping the course and an A next time >>>>>>>>>>get F now and getting an A later.

Assuming the course is 3 credit hours....
1st scenario: 3*4 = 12/3 = 4.0 GPA for that course
--> drops do not count against you.

2nd scenario: 3*0 + 3*4 = 12/6 = 2.0 GPA for that course.
--> F's will impact you and never goes away

I understand OP problem at my uni. after a certain date ( Which has already past Mar. 2) if you drop a course you get a WF, meaning you withdraw and the F calculates into your gpa.. but I do not know of medical schools view WF's

Okay, drop all your courses now and sort your priorities out.
Ponder a good bit about what you actually want to do first.
In the mean time, do some volunteering.

Drop all courses? I agree that OP should definitely get some definitive goals set, but completely clearing off his/her plate to do so? Sounds a little drastic to me.
