Hello,

I am a career-changer currently mid-cycle, with 0 II. I have 1 pre-II R from a state MD school and 1 pre-II hold from a DO school. I emailed the MD school for feedback, and they said my stats (3.7 cum gpa) were fine, and to just keep doing what I am doing essentially. I was complete mid to late September this cycle as I had a unexpected MCAT retake. Anxiety got me the first time, and I scored a 500 (123/126/125/126). I retested the next available date to a 509 (127/127/125/130). This was within range of my practice exams (508-512), though the B/B stayed below expected again.

I currently work full-time in a non-related field. I have accrued 750 clinical hours as well as 250 research hours. Had the cycle gone better I planned to stay in my non-related position to save money. I am now thinking the best course of action is to find a job with clinical experience ASAP (to show I really do want to change fields), and begin a new volunteer role, pre-write like crazy, and apply day 1 for 2020-2021.

Do you think my time would be better spent improving my MCAT, particularly to show I can do better in the B/B section?

Thank you!

When did you receive the 500 and when did you receive the 509?

I'd probably suggest sticking with what you have unless you think you get get a 515+ next time around with improvement in nearly all categories. The reason for this is the 509 is in your range as you stated, and since you chose to take the score that turned out to be a 500, they now see a 9 point increase.

Depending on when you had the 500 versus 509 could have something to do with the turn out you have, or possibly other unknown factors.
