Should I use Exam Krackers?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In my opinion ExamKrackers represents the best compromise between conciseness and completeness while TBR materials are the best overall for achieving true mastery. If you use TBR I would recommend getting a shorter MCAT book as well, either McGraw Hill, Gold Standard's book, or MCAT Pearls, so that you have something to help you 'walk around the mountain' not only 'tunnel through it'. The danger with TBR is that the depth of treatment can impede knowledge base structuring if you don't have a method to step back and see the forest for the trees.

The 6 in biology was mainly due to a weakness in organic chem

I'm not buying it. A 6 in BS indicates weakness in more than just ochem.

EK is a great review series, assuming you learned and mastered the material once before. As a teaching book, EK alone (bio + 1001 bio) will let you down.

I knew my bio was weak, due the the nature of bio instruction at my univeristy. I combined the EK bio series with TBR bio series, and I was pleased with the results.

I was not implying that I had every other BS topic mastered, just that my ochem was especially weak which I felt was the leading contributor to my low score.

It sounds like you both recommend TBR as the best method to achieve mastery in BS whereas EK is the best review system. I will look into TBR for now and maybe will come back and get the EK BS 1001 closer to exam time.

If anyone else has suggestions I would still love to hear them!

I didn't use TPR. I used Kaplan review books and EK. I agree with what others have said about EK: it's great and concise, but it works best as a review of what you knew in the past. If you didn't have a good Biology foundation in school, then go with a more comprehensive review book. Kaplan's books were sufficient for me, but my Biology was fairly strong.
