Hey everyone,

The above link is basically my "situation" that I posted in WAMC. It will clarify A LOT as to why this is a hard decision for me.

Basically, I just took my Biochemistry exam and needless to say, I did a lot worse than I wanted. I am desperately trying to get my AMCAS sGPA to 3.6 by next year when I apply, and I absolutely need at least an A- to attain that. And well...even though 71.5% of my grade is still up in the air (the midterm I just took was worth 28.5% of my grade), it's going to take a monumental effort and some luck to get that grade. I would obviously work hard, but it may not be enough.

Should I withdraw from Biochemistry and take it next year?

The problem is I'm already behind on my credits and I have already retaken 2 courses (although I did raise those grades from Cs to As), and have 1 W on my transcript.

Would 2 Ws be too much and come across a major red-flag to Adcoms? Even if I end up getting an A-/A next semester in Biochemistry?

Personally....

I wouldn't take a W unless I am getting less than a B- in a science class. But that's me. I don't think 1 or 2 W's is going to tank your application, but I also think a B would look better than a W. I'm not an adcom, though.

Have you talked with your prof about where you stand? I would do that first before you take a W.

My current AMCAS science GPA is just below 3.5, but with the science classes I'll take this semester and next semester, it'll rise into the 3.5s. However, I am desperately trying to get it to hit exactly 3.6 before I apply. Anything less than A's will drop it below 3.6 and into the 3.5s.

Unless there is a curve and I talk to my professor, I think it's mathematically impossible for me to pull out an A. An A- would be possible, but would require me to basically score in the high 90s. So there's my dilemma - I really don't want to take the W and redo this class (especially after putting in the effort), but I want to hit that 3.6
