Should I withdraw or not?

Hello everyone,

I have a question about whether or not I should withdraw from my Calc I class. There are only 3 weeks left in the semester and I am considering withdrawing from the class because I doubt that I can receive any grade higher than a C. The grade of C would only happen if I receive a 100 on the final. With the pace that I am going in the class now, I try really hard to understand the material but it just does not seem to get into my head.
Would it be a bad impression that I am withdrawing so late in the semester? Or should I just study really hard for the final for a grade of C? Would withdrawing so late but saving my GPA be a better choice than to work really hard for a C that will stick forever?

At my school it wouldn't be possible to withdraw in that situation. I'd probably do it if you can, though.

I've withdrawn from my Calc III class...twice. Once freshman year, and once this quarter. Both times I was thinking about majoring in Computer Science, but realized it wasn't for me and then decided to drop Calc III (since I didn't need it). I think medical schools will understand. On my transcript it shows up as W7 (7th week drop) both times. If you have a good reason for dropping, like say you registered for too many classes or something, then I'm sure med schools won't mind 1 or 2 drops along your 4 year undergrad career.

Withdraw if you still can withdraw and get a W. I don't think anyone would care whether you withdrew early or late as long as you have the same grade.

My opinion is that you should withdraw, save your gpa, and retake the class with a better teacher. Try getting a tutor, going to TA and professor office hours, form a study group, and do whatever it takes to Ace it next time. You are lucky that you can get out while you still can. Make this your ONLY W on your transcript. Good luck!
