Yep, got my letter on Saturday. My interview is March 21 in the afternoon. Yaayyyy!! Do you know how many applicants they will be interviewing?

The advisor told me that they will be interviewing about 200 students from March 20-26th.

Does anyone know how the interview will be like?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to see if I could answer any questions you had about SIUE SOP. I know how difficult it was going through the application and interview process and I just wanted to see if I could answer any questions. So here it goes.....

1. The interview is usually conducted by a faculty member and a pharmacist who practices in the area. The schools website had a useful link to a pdf file about how to prepare for the interview. (this is how I prepared for the interview)

2. The school usually accepts around 80-85 students.

3. The school interviews around 200 students.

Just relax and be yourself. I may see you guys there! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, thanks Reaper. The link to the interview preparation pdf file is still there, but the file is gone. I'm concerned about the writing essay. I am an excellent writer/communicator but tend to panic under a severe time limit. What type of question did you have. I am also concerned that they don't usually accept very many out-of-state students. I live in St. Louis. My stats are GPA 3.7 (science/math 3.6), PCAT 76 🙁, Walgreens tech for 2 years/certified. I am a non-traditional student and have overcome some big, big obstacles (does this even matter?). I am confident (not cocky/arrogant) about my interview because I know "why pharmacy," can prove my desire to attain that goal, and let's face it, I have had dozens and dozens of interviews during my lifetime (I'm 40). So knowing the school and reading my story, what do you think are my chances. Of course, I know you are not a mind reader!!!

Thanks again!!

SIUE has the interview tips pdf file up again in case anyone is interested.

Ok, lets take this one step at a time...

Essay:
From what I remember about the essay it was basically a "judgment call" type of scenario that you were presented with. *I cant remember exactly what my situation was🙁* The time limit was no big deal for me and I am not the greatest writer in the world.

Chances:
From what I see your GPA looks very good, you PCAT is a little low but nothing that would prohibit you from getting into the program. I believe that the average PCAT score last year was ~76, so you are right on par with that. It is true that SIUE does not accept very many out-of-state applications, however in my class the 3-4 that they did accept are all non-trad type of students.

Basic Tips for the interview and essay:
*Let your interviewers know that you are serious about pharmacy and show them your desire to become a pharmacist.
*On the essay remember that the safety/well-being of the patient is paramount!!

Hope that this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
