It is comforting to know that you guys are so caring even though we don't know each other. I've lost my father and my best friend in February and it saddens me very much..but with time..i'm hoping the pain will lessen. Thanks everyone.

So does anybody else have nothing next to their application status at a site? Only two of my sites are reviewing my application, kind of worried because it's so late in the game.

they are probably already reviewing your app..and just haven't updated the status page.
 
did you get your application in before feb 1? if you did you should be fine, if not they're probably busy reviewing apps for those who did turn it by then because they have to let all of those applicants know by feb 15th. good luck to everyone 5 more days!!

does anyone know for 100% sure when the decision is being released?

If you mean by the time on February 15, I have no idea. As aforementioned by someone else, an automated midnight message would be awesome! Otherwise, probably sometime before noon.
 
do u guys think we are gonna get our results from all the schools we applied to on monday(those that applied before feb 1) because I called there office today and theire closed due to inclement weather(yea the snow hit the dc area really hard I live near it so i know)..we have not had skwl since last thursday.
I hope the blizzard wont affect this
 
Yeah, I can't believe all that is happening in the DC/VA area now. I'm from Northern VA but now at college away from home. I thought the 2 feet of snow we got around Christmas would be the peak, but can't believe these past few storms have dumped over 3 feet of snow in less than 2 weeks. However, I'm not sure if it'll affect us because each site makes its individual decisions. But if these decisions need to be processed through the DC office first, then I don't know. Yet, then again, it shouldn't because Monday is a holiday anyways.

That's where I'm from -- small world. I too go to college right down route 29 in albemarle county and we got out of school a couple of days, I haven't seen this much snow since I moved from Michigan!!

I really hope it doesn't affect the admissions release date, I don't think it will..

Fairfax County, here! I definitely know a lot of people from Loudoun County though. I hear you. I have never seen this much snow since the foot of snow that I got back in 1995 right before I moved to California. My younger brother has been out of school since last Thursday. I don't know what I'd do at home for that long ...

hmm, so I was wondering when they'd notify us. I'm thinking it's going to be automated because Monday is a holiday..but at the same time...I wonder if they'll go by by the eastern time zone or pacific.. I guess we will find out soon!

I applied to Duke, Washington, and UT-H last week. 🙂

I go to the University of Texas. Chemistry major with a 3.75.

I called their office they were open today and the lady who was very nice told me that no matter what somehow we will find out on monday
3 days left!
everyone should post the sites they get into when they find out!

I just wanted to know...what to you do when u get accepted to this program? get ready for DAT? Is that it?

I think he's asking what the goal of the program is and whether it's just to prepare predental students to take the DAT and prepare premed students to take the MCATs. The answer is no, this is not a prep program. I think it gives us an exposure to the field we are interested in while learning how to improve ourselves academically as well as professionally.

Oh, alright. Yeah, you're right. Although, if you are accepted into the Louisville site, you have the opportunity to apply for a MCAT prep program that begin when the SMDEP program is over. I can't recall if there is a DAT component.
 
the weekend is going to go by so quickly and before we know it..it'll be monday!

so does that mean if you dont do the smdep at louisville that you cant do this program? even if the dates of the site you pick match up with louisvilles?

This is the information from the SMDEP site ...


"Please note: We offer an MCAT/DAT Program that has an application process that is separate from the SMDEP process. SMDEP scholars have the option of applying (via a separate packet available through our office) for consideration to stay an additional four weeks for our intense MCAT/DAT prep following completion of the six-week academic program."

I'm not sure if they mean SMDEP scholars who will attend the Louisville site, or if this applies to any SMDEP scholar.

The sites that I choose are Washington, Yale and Howard.
And Yale has started to review my app. about 3 wks ago.
I'm both excited and nervous for Monday!!

i applied to the same sites except for yale(umdnj)
Im excited lol i want monday to come like now but i giuess illjus have to forget about it by doing all my school work for the next two days lol
 
hey hey everyone! i'm new here as well. i've been looking through threads for quite a while, but SMDEP discussion has persuaded me to become a member. i applied to louiseville, umdnj and nebraska for dentistry.

does anyone know if each school has separate admissions numbers for the dental and medical programs? for example, a program may have 30 spots for medical, but only 20 spots for dental.

I know that most of the programs that have both have like 20 dental kids..or around that number..well at least thats what my friends that went to some of the sites said.

hiii u alll.....i am a newcomer to SDN...i hope nothing but the best for those who are awaiting there decisions tomorrow.
I am currently a freshman in college and just heard about this program last week....i am looking forward to finishing my app within the next few hours or so as i am completing the essay components...do u all feel like i am extremely late even for the march 1st deadline???....thanks i appreciate any insight
 
although they encourage an early application, by no means is applying today late. even if it is, luckly you're a freshman and have next year to submit your app really early as a sophomore.

Hi Honey! I don't think you are too late. One of my friends still hasn't submitted her stuff. I think you just need to choose wisely which sites you apply too!.


WOW... i can't believe tomorrow is finally here.... I cannot wait to see if I got in or not! I am trying to think positively

im soo excited for u all and i didnt even submit my app LOL...do u have any suggestions of where should i apply to being that the deadline is very near...any advice...
 
some people think its an automatic response at will be up at midnight. I think it'll be like college online decisions where you didn't hear back until 4PM or 5PM, who knows we'll have to wait and see. hopefully it is tonight, midnight.

I would stay away from the most populated sites in order to ensure you get into a site. I think Yale and Duke are the most popular every year.
 
how much emphasis is put on SAT/ACT scores for SMDEP.....do they value ones college gpa and grades more than what someone got on a 3hour exam back in high school?
 
personally I think they just use it to make sure you have half a brain. I think if you're over the requirement they don't look into it any further than that. I think they put mor emphasis on your collegiate transcript, EC, recommendations. Your college GPA I would think plays a pretty heavy role especially if you're a sophomore.

gaaah! i'm so excited for tomorrow! Fortunately (or unfortunately? lol) I have a bio exam tomorrow, so studying for that will help be take my mind off it =)

I doubt that their will be like an automated thing at 12am..but you never know!lol i think we should all find out around noon or so

i agree....i am just finishing mine up right now....and like i would love to know how i would compare myself as an applicant to those i am competing for a spot with
