or previously on the blog someone mentioned about technical difficulties that they are having....so maybe because of that what u see on the view status page is confusing...

when did you, nina and mrtang,..notice the changes on your view status page? Because it if was recently changed, then maybe someone's still working on getting whatever technical difficulty they had..fixed! And maybe we'll know in a few hours!

Seems like Yale is the only one sending out notifications today. I applied there as well, but havent heard back from them yet. The chances of me getting in are highly unlikely.. im so nervous guys!!!! =[ CONGRATS pitupua and hellohelsinki!!! goodluck on your other choices!!!:xf:

Ahh... Saajimdeen, you are making me feeling really nervous.
I also applied to Yale. I tried not to check this thread, but I can't stop myself from doing so.
Those who got accepted already got their result back. Since you and I are both not confident and both haven't heard back yet, we might have really small chance of getting in. Let's just hold our hope for other sites!!

🙂

i just want to know already! i really hope they come out tomorrow. you know what would suck? If they made us wait till april 1st..then applying early was all for nothing. lets hope it doesn't come to that! :xf:

Wow, I was rejected from Yale this morning, but it says Application in Review again..hmm.. I don't want to get my hopes up again and have to all come crashing down later... 🙁

hiii u all....im having some trouble that i wonder if anyone can enlighten me on....after i chose my sites....and pressed finished...the application won't let me go on to the certification and submit section...which means i cant submit my application to them....i would sometimes get an error page from them...is this due to the technical difficulties that they had...or is something going wrong with my application???? HELP!

I'm wondering if anyone got into Columbia? I got into UW and Yale it looks like.

Well it is a sad day for me. I got rejected from Colombia, Yale, and UWash.
I had a 3.65 gpa, just not a minority nor underrepresented. 🙁
Well Congrats to all you guys

I just got rejected across the board too T__T
I had 3.93 gpa, but I'm asian.
Guess I'll try again next year.
Congrats to those who got in.

Same here Youmustknowme. I got rejected from columbia, UT-H, and Case.
I had a 4.0 gpa and I wasn't a minority either.

OMG!!!!!!!
3.0 GPA
Black
Female
EXTREMELY STRONG ESSAYS
2 great letters of recommendation
ACCEPTED INTO HOWARD, DUKE AND COLUMBIA!!!

OMG!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!

I have been crying my eyes out!

I'm Asian too, I got accepted into Howard.

Rejected across the board. What a way to end the day.

Well, at least we know that the decision is based mostly on whether or not we fit into the minority category and not whether we were capable of making the most out of the program.

Accepted into Columbia and UCLA. Didn't get into University of Washington, but I guess that's okay, the family was planning on visiting Seattle anyways this summer.

3.96 GPA (4.000 sGPA)
2 Awesome LORs (One from Head of Lab who knew me since I was a kid and another one from Science Prof.)
Tons of EC's (Dental Assistant Job and Lab Assistant)

and rejected from all sites: Columbia, WashU and UCLA

probably because i'm asian...

just confirmed that i'll be going to the university of virginia--was rejected at columbia and uwash. anyone else headed over to charlottesville this summer? i'm from los angeles but now live in phoenix, so i'm curious as to how a summer in the south will pan out!

just to share stats, i've got a 4.0 at the local community college, i'm a latina, i wrote what i think to be some pretty strong essays and my anthropology wrote me a fantastic letter whereas i'm pretty sure my biology professor just phoned it in.

Yeah, I had a awesome rec from my lab supervisor who's a medical doctor and an alumni from Yale.

I had tons of ECs too, (volunteered in Beijing, Mentoring programs...)

Oh gosh, I'm gonna have to tell her I got rejected from everything tomorrow. SIGH.

New to the thread. Just got into yale and ucla! So relieved after the "delay"

same here...congrats to everyone who got in...sucks for everyone who didnt get in but I guess they werent looking for what we had

NORCAL send me a private message! we both got into Columbia!!!

I don't think it is just based on the fact if you are a minority... I had extremely strong essays and my letters of recommendation were from an orthopedic surgeon and my biology T.A. My personality shown through my whole application. I think everyone has a chance.

Congrats to everyone who got in.

I'm not saying that it's only because of our ethnicity status, but it's pretty obvious that it's harder for some to get in because of our ethnicity. Those who got in are, I'm certain, bright, intelligent, and deserving individuals who will make the world out of the program--I just wish ethnicity didn't play such a huge role in the admission decision.

Congrats to those who got in again! For the rest of us....we'll just toil around in search of other programs... 🙂

I will do that! I'm definitely thinking about Columbia now, I'm really excited! =)

I still don't have any answers from any site!!!!! Still "Application in Review"!!!
My friend called me and she was accepted in Duke, but rejected in the rest.

AAhggghhh I guees I'll have to check tomorrow morning :scared:

Anyone accepted into UCLA, Nebraska and or Washington?

I hope this isn't some sick joke where they take your acceptances away due to techn. difficulties.

- Neuroscience Research Laboratory -- Beginning 1st authorship publication with professor

Accepted to Yale, Duke, and UVa.

Best of luck to everyone!!

in all honesty, minority status plays a huge role in the admissions process (if not the sole deciding factor). of course the kids who apply to this program are motivated individuals; who else would take the time to find this program, write up the entire application, ask their teachers for recs, etc? to say that everyone who got in must be intelligent is redundant and unnecessary, and serves rather as a wasteful way to concede a point before (or after) saying what you actually think. ethnicity is the major decisive factor here; if you need to convince yourself of this just scroll up the page or back a few and read the accepted and rejected posts. maybe it's just me, but i think that's a tad bit hypocritical of the mission of education. 😍😍😍

I just got accepted to UW, Yale and Howard.

Asian with 3.9 GPA, 1 strong letter of rec. and some volunteer at a nursing home.

That really made my day!!

Hey everyone, I'm new here. 🙂

I was rejected from Columbia (my top choice) and Case Western... but I was accepted into UCLA (my current university). I guess I'm lucky since I'm East Asian.

I guess I'm going to spend another summer at UCLA. 😀

Congrats to everyone who got in somewhere!!!

I definitely feel for those who did not get in with their stellar profiles. However, this program was established to increase applicants from underrepresented minority groups, you guys just now finding this out? Still knowing this most of us took a shot at applying even though we did not fall into one of these groups. Most of the Asian applicants who were rejected had better stats than non-Asians who were accepted, but that is just how we must deal being an overrepresented group. I wish you all luck!

I was accepted into Washington, UCLA and Nebraska. Anyone have an idea how much the stipend is approximately?

A friend who attended the UWash one said their stipend was $350. I'm not sure about the other sites that you mentioned. But I do know the stipend for Columbia is a sweet $1000. =)

Accepted at Uni of Nebraska and Case Western!!!

Stats:
South-Asian American
GPA 3.5
Research internship as first year
Active on campus, and volunteer experience in clinical and non clinal areas
Strong LORS from HPAC advisor and neuroscience advisor.

Previously I said I applied to UW, Nebraska and Howard but I actually applied to UW, Nebraska and Case (I don't know why I was thinking of Howard).

But anyway I got into UW and Case--rejected at Nebraska.
3.4 GPA
Migrated 5 years ago from Southeast Asia
Sophomore
But I think my greatest advantage is that I currently live in a rural and medically underserved town. (Okay, I'm from Wyoming).

Case or UW? Any input?

I know UVA is $1,000. Anybody know what Yale is?

Additionally, I've been looking everywhere I remember reading about it, but if you're accepted, how long do you have until you must respond and confirm?

For some odd reason i thought it was in the 4 thousand range! Now I am extremely disappointed.

Oh well lol! I am still getting the experience of a lifetime!!! anybody have a slight idea of what to expect? and i believe you have five days to make a decision!

black, 3.5 gpa, difficult liberal arts school, rejected across the board =( (schools were duke, uwash, and columbia)

Well, at least we know that the decision is based mostly on whether or not we fit into the minority category and not whether we were capable of making the most out of the program.

I'm not a minority, Acoustica.

Rejected at Case and umdnj but accepted at Nebraska!!! My overall GPA probably sucked since I'm transferred twice. I'm pretty sure my LORS and my essays are what got me into Nebraska! Congrats to everyone!
