No residency apps won't care about an SMP.
They will care about USMLE 1s, course evals, and where you went to school. Which if you are an IMG, is going to be your biggest hurdle

In your shoes I'd be looking for a "graduate course" that serves as a long "audition rotation" at a facility which hosts the kind of residency you want.
That could theoretically help you get a residency.
Otherwise, grad study of any kind after med school is only going to add age to your board scores and lessen your competitiveness for residency.
