Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to receive some advice on the current situation I'm in right now.

Currently a third-year student at a Canadian University with a cumulative GPA of 2.5. With that being said, I genuinely did not try those 3 years at all. Was distracted with business, extracurriculars, and work.

- 100 + volunteer hours at a hospital
- 500 + hours as a patient transporter
- 20+ hours shadowing a D.O
- Coach a juniors basketball league
- 1 year of running an orthopedic and custom bracing business
- have not done my MCAT yet, but will be doing that this summer with a help of a prep course.

Are there any Canadian friendly SMP schools ?
and what are my chances if I was to bring my GPA to a 3.0 ? i know that my GPA is really low for D.O schools, but I'm willing to do a SMP and then hopefully get an interview for med school.

Thank you to anyone that can help me out ! 🙂

Do you have an upward trend at all?

yes, I do have an upward trend, I'm pretty sure my GPA is weighted higher in the states for Canadian students, as my school only has letters grades..... so an A is a 4.0 on the AACOMAS GPA scale if I'm correct. All in all, there is a slight possible chance that if I was to do really good in the last 2 years of my undergrad and kill the MCAT, I could get an interview at Canadian Med schools that look at the best two years.

I'm just playing the safe card, that if it wasn't to happen, an SMP can be a backup. I know some schools require a cGPA of a 2.75 or higher, but obviously these programs are competitive and being a Canadian student makes it harder.
