So I'm taking CS in Philly on Monday and well it's snowing like crazy here on the East coast. Plus given the fact that it's Saturday, I can't find a person to call to see whether the CS will take place or not this Monday (Dec 21st).

I live in DC and will still probably TRY to drive there tomorrow (Sunday) but I won't be able to cancel my hotel reservation in case it's canceled. Any helpful hints??

I haven't taken CS yet, so I can't comment about what the NBME specifically will do about an "act of god" like this. However, I did have my MCAT cancelled because a hurricane was about to hit Florida. We were contacted by the AAMC the day before and told that our test would be rescheduled in a few weeks. (It wound up being two weeks later.) There was not any backlash from this as far as I know. On the other hand, I didn't have to travel to another city to take the test and worry about hotel charges.

I think if I were you, I would do exactly like you're planning: try to go to Philly if you can tomorrow. If you can't, then on Monday, you contact the Step 2 people and tell them that you were unable to keep your test date due to weather. It's not like anyone will accuse you of lying about a snowstorm in New England this weekend! I would also call the hotel today and discuss the problem with them. Don't talk to the person at the front desk; ask for the manager. I'm sure you aren't the first person this has ever happened to, and they should have some kind of procedure in place to handle it. Let them know that you are still planning to come if possible, but you are also waiting to find out if your test date will be postponed due to the weather. If it is, I think you can make a reasonable case for getting your hotel reservation changed as well. Worst case scenario if your test gets postponed and the hotel manager refuses to help you, you could file a dispute of the hotel room charge with your credit card while you get everything sorted out.

I'm in the same position. Prometric has a website (http://www.prometric.com/Importantnews.htm) that states closures. I am flying to the East Coast, so I don't know what is going to happen. If you find out more info, please send it my way.

Q- I did exactly that... I called the hotel and I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed. I soooo don't want to reschedule CS.

my flight was just canceled and rescheduled for monday night....


any idea how to contact prometrics about this?

i am desperately trying to reschedule my flight earlier....but you can imagine the hold time 🙁
