First of all, Obama deserves another nobel peace prize for working behind the scenes on this one!

In all seriousness, from what I read on newspapers today, the Finance Committee bill is designed to extend coverage to tens of millions of Americans now without insurance. Among other things, the measure would expand eligibility for Medicaid, the health program for the poor, and it would create new tax subsidies to help individuals and families comply with a mandate that nearly every American carry insurance.

So, this means dentists will see more medicaid patients? if not, this bill is certainly a prelude of things to come, a public plan that becomes a major sector in the insurance market (in a decade or so).

...and this excites you?

Those bastard Norwegians! Our Prez deserves to take home the Nobel for Economic, too, since he brought us out of this Great Recession. The world will be at peace when the Russian and Chinese surrounds us and we're to damn broke and weak to do anything.:meanie:

This bill will just get rewritten and the other 4 bills will just get incorporated. I'm not looking to deeply into this until I see ONE bill.

In all seriousness: he did not deserve a nobel peace prize. Apparently they are just handing them out like candy nowadays....

Sounds like someone is jealous that they didn't get a Nobel peace prize.:meanie: ......j/k

Actually, I was nominated for the Nobel peace prize when I said thank you to the mail man the other day.

I guess all you have to do is flash a smile now... at least that's what our president did.

I think I have a pretty good shot based on this year's winner. Maybe I should turn my story into a "What are my chances?" thread...

WOW! You're really delaying the prize... I figured he'd get the econ price for signing the proficient stimulus package.. Or, maybe those bailouts. 🙂

Actually if anything it would be for the Cash for Clunkers program.......that truly deserves a Nobel Prize in Economics.

Anyone else see the bill passed in Michigan where they straight up TAX doctors/healthcare workers an extra 3%? The governor wanted 5% but settled for 3%. This, the same lady Obama appointed to his Economic Recovery Task force back in Dec 08 to develop all the wonderful recovery plans we've been experiencing. nice, eh?

Think before you vote.

I think they already tried that in Massachusetts if I remember correctly.

Tax the healthcare workers who have already been screwed over by healthcare "overhaul" in that state...brilliant!

For the Record the Peace prize is very different from the other Nobels. Peace is a separate committee of 5 individuals.

The Peace Prize has been controversial for decades, pretty much means nothing. However the others are still quite valid.

You really start wonder if those poor (or stupid) souls in Michigan deserve the 15% unemployment they getting.

Not in Taxachusetts. It was Conn. but all the same.

For the record, the healthcare bill HASN'T passed the senate yet, just a sub committee. The bill hasn't been voted on by the full senate yet - maybe next week or the week after. This thing isn't even close to having it's final language written yet, and unfortunately, many democrats think that the 72 hour "reading period" for citizens to actually read a propsed bill and then comment to the elected officials who we put there, should be waved for this bill, which mind you if it becomes law, wouldn't take effect until 2013!:wtf:

My bad, I'm from the midwest... states in the northeast are all the same to me. 😛

So now Michigan won't have any jobs or physicians. Tough break...

Well, that one guy in the commercial on TV says that "Michigan is a great place for business".

LOL, you really have to wonder about a state when they are actually ADVERTISING on TV for businesses to come there. Something just doesn't add up right....

Exactly, businesses aren't dumb (except the ones that have to be propped up by tax dollars), they know which states they will get a fair shake in and which ones that will tax them into oblivion.

Give them an environment they can thrive in and you don't need to advertise.

I go to school in Scotland, and the parliament just took routine dental check-up out of NHS. 😀 if medicaid = nhs, then yes, all your patients will be medicaid patients.
