If we accept an offer today/tomorrow, are we supposed to not make any announcements since everyone who matched originally won't officially know where until Friday?

any official word from the NRMP about this glitch?

No, the program can only submit as many offers as they have openings each round. So if they are rejected they have to wait until the next round to offer them again. The PD I spoke with was very emphatic about this and called multiple times to verify I would accept the spot.

Ahh ok got it. Thanks for clearing that up. So if that's the case then once this glitch is sorted out then everyone should have their offers and if you don't have one, then have to wait until next round?

No, you can tell it from the rooftops 🙂. One of (if not the ONLY) the advantages to SOAPing.

Offers are being generated for the current offer round.

20 minutes and counting...
 
If it says offers being generated and not "no offers" does that mean you're on the programs preference list? My head is about to explode

I don't think so. There would no benefit for a program to call me and tell me I'm offered a position and there is a glitch in the system if that was not true. The NRMP probably just doesn't want to admit any fault.
 
i can't even get through to the NRMP when i try to call, constant busy signal.
 
I have one offer listed. But there's a message saying that offers are being generated. I'll probably wait just a bit because we have until 2pm est to accept, right?
 
I tried to open the NRMP live chat to ask what's going on but after entering my info it just disappeared. I'm sure they're just inundated right now.
 
It does seem weird that although this forum is a small sample size that only 2 people have said they have offers. Especially since all offers go out at once. I wish there were more explanation for those that are expecting an offer!

Possibly. I'm just passing on the message they told me.
 
Just curious, the people who have offers, did you get a call yesterday?

From my experience in computer programming, the offers may be tabulated one by one, and each user is updated one by one.

With 13,000 applicants (i got this number from last year's SOAP) it might take some time to go through the entire list.
 
if it helps, i have 1 offer and it still says its generating. i'm waiting until 1 to decide, fwiw

I believe so since the schedule is so regimented. By 3 the next set of offers go out.
 
Yeah, I think I need to walk away for a few minutes. I'd hope that if they had offered me the position, the PD would have emailed or called. The die is cast, so no use freaking out. Let's keep each other posted!
 
still the same message! ahhhh this is torture
 
The NRMP line is completely engaged - no getting through.
 
my says there are no offers for split second and then goes back to, offers are being generated
