My boyfriend is SOAPing right now and has been thankful to be contacted by a few programs so far. Should he follow-up with these programs after the interview at all (like through an email or quick call saying he's very interested) or just let it to rest after the interview?

I am assuming that most interview phone calls/ emails are today?
Haven't gotten another call yet. Feelsbad.
Phone. I had one skype and probably 40-50 phone calls.
40-50????
Still waiting for another phone call, this is killing me
Feel the exact same way. Seconds feel like hours.

In total, yeah.

Yes; today is going to be a very busy day.
Also keep in mind, the entire northeast is in the grips of a huge blizzard. (I'm stuck at the hospital wondering if I'll get to go home at the end of my shift), so hopefully that won't affect their ability to make calls.

Email to thank them and let them know he's interested isn't a bad idea at all.
Do they normally call throughout the day or in the evening? (or both?)
Do they normally call throughout the day or in the evening? (or both?)
Both. I got calls pretty early, and they continued till about 8pm MST (11 on the east coast).
40-50...you can only apply to 45 programs?!?
Some programs had more than one person call and speak with me during the day (residents, faculty, PD, etc).
I was on the phone most of the day is the point.
So wait. If you get a phone interview, how likely are they gonna offer you the position?
SOAP didn't work out for me last year (I ended up matching this year instead) so I'm not really sure...but there is a good chance from what I know.

Did you do anything for the year to improve your chances?

What did you do in the year you went unmatched? I am trying to figure out what I can do that will look good on next years applications if I truly go unmatched this year.
I hear you, been waiting for a follow up interview for a program that called me yesterday and said that another member of the faculty was going to call me, still nothing.Feel the exact same way. Seconds feel like hours.
Already cleaned my apartment to distract myself but didn't help much.

What did you do to improve your chances and to which specialty did you apply?

Is everyone currently researching all the programs they applied to? Or just waiting for the emails/calls first?
I researched the one that called me. Also as soon as I got the call I googled it, so I would have things to ask about their specific programIs everyone currently researching all the programs they applied to? Or just waiting for the emails/calls first?
Anyone has any thoughts on this ?Applied to 41 Programs. Kept 4 programs open for Surgery Prelim just in case I match into an advanced program.
Is this a wise strategy?
If you wait too long there won't be any spots left to apply to. If I recall correctly, something like 75% of spots are gone in the first two rounds.Anyone has any thought son this ?
Anyone have any offers showing up on the site? I had a few phone interviews but checking the NRMP site and clicking the "Offers" tab it just says "The next round of offers will be sent at 12pm EST"
It's now a quarter past and it still says that, so I assume it means no offers this round? I thought it was supposed to read "No offers this round" if you actually have no offers.
The offers will show up tomorrow (the 15th) at 12 pm

The first round is tomorrow at noon.
Congratulations! Just wondering what you have improved to get the match this year?I matched today.
For everyone soaping, I was in your shoe last year and I matched this year.
Don't give up guys.
Good luck for everyone.

Oh wow, I thought it was today. The offers will show up tomorrow (the 15th) at 12 pm
Phew, I was stressing out for a minute there, thanks for the quick reply guys.
Thanks. I was thinking specifically about Surgery Prelims. If you wait too long there won't be any spots left to apply to. If I recall correctly, something like 75% of spots are gone in the first two rounds.
They never completely fill up and I don't really want to do a Surgery Prelim unless I get an advanced position.
I mean if I apply for Surgery Prelim and get it without getting the advanced program first then What am I gonna do?
You have great scores. Why do you think is the reason for no match? No calls yet.🙁
Step 1 240+, Step 2 CK 250+ and CS Pass -- all on first attempt.
I was in a similar situation. I interviewed at a program and ranked them high on the list but 90% of their spots are unfilled on SOAP list. One of the programs interviewed me did not rank me. In the end, 2 spots unfilled. Is there anything I could do at this point? Thanks!
I re-applied anyway.
Sorry to hear that. Just too bad. I also re-applied. I am wondering if the program knows the situation or not.I was in a similar situation. I interviewed at a program and ranked them high on the list but 90% of their spots are unfilled on SOAP list.

Of course they do.Sorry to hear that. Just too bad. I also re-applied. I am wondering if the program knows the situation or not.
How do we know specifically if the programs have received all our documents?
Still nothing. =/
SOAPing after suicidal match: only #1 ranked for location. Anyone here SOAPing for Pathology?
I am. =/

Another example of ranking the places you interviewed and not relying on just one spot taking you.
Good luck with SOAP.

You're gonna take it and say "Thank You!" Then work your tail off to prove to them that you're worth keeping on for the rest of your training.
Your alternative is...?
It's strange that there are more unfilled positions in Path than last year.I am. =/
does anyone know approximately how many applicants a program will interview for a single spot during soap?
It's strange that there are more unfilled positions in Path than last year.
And some good programs there too.
I also applied for FM, IM & Path categorical.Your alternative is...?
