I dont believe that anyone disputes anything in the graph. It was from the LATimes but the NYT and BBC and probably many others have similar graphs showing the same thing. If you're not willing to provide the source of your graph it is irrelevant.
Of course biden and the democrats tightened up border security to win the election. I agree trump told republicans to kill it on political reasons. And no I don't have to "prove" biden decided to tighten the border for political reasons....because the election was coming soon. It's common sense. The liberal left the border wide open in hopes of getting votes from illegal aliens. They only tightened when they perceived the threat to keeping the presidency.
You provide me with real evidence to the contrary, I don't have to prove common sense, such as the sky is blue or fat people eat too much.
If that is how you approach a debate, then not worth discussing much with you

Not insulting your common sense but the sky is actually purple as the sky is visably rich in violet light. Human retinal cone cells are far less sensitive to violet light than they are to blue light. Our eyes and brain blend the scattered light signals, and because our blue-detecting cones and overall visual processing centers respond more strongly to the blue spectrum, we register the sky as blue. You probably learned this in physics class or med school but probably forgot, 🙂.If you're not willing to provide the source of your graph it is irrelevant.

It is really sad to hear a smart physician say strongly like "fat people eat too much" You obviously know that a host of medical conditions including hypothyroidism, polycystic ovary syndrome as well certain medications such as steroids or antidepressantsc can cause weight gain even with normal eating habits. Yet...you say what you say.
Wow, this is why the lefties are labeled crazy. Sometimes you just have to use logic and some crap study just prove your point. After 2 years of hormone therapy, trans women show little to no advantage over cis women in tests like running 1.5 miles or number of sit-ups.
By 4 years on hormone therapy, performance differences in studied metrics tend to disappear.
Lebron James, 18 yrs old, takes 2-4 yrs of hormone therapy. You are really telling me that he has no advantage over anyone in the WNBA?
Michael Phelps, 18 yr old, takes 2-4 yrs of hormone therapy. You are telling me he would not break very single record he competes in?
Mike Tyson, 18 yr old, takes 2-4 yrs of hormone therapy. You are telling me he would not put every woman he boxes in the hospital?
This is why the left are insufferable and just can't admit something that is plain to see. It is like arguing the earth is flat, just insane to even debate.
Why so salty and angry, man? Take a deep breath. This is one of the least important arguments and issues that we as a country will face. It is definitely not important another to get your panties in a bunch.Wow, this is why the lefties are labeled crazy. Sometimes you just have to use logic and some crap study just prove your point.

I could care less about this issue but it is clear that many of you are hot and bothered by it. I am just quoting the studies that are there. You don't have to like them but that is what they say. You are a man of science are you not? Put your feelings aside and look at the data if you want to be objective. If your common sense is so evident and powerful wouldn't there be something showing a higher rate of injury of cis woman from trans woman competing. Show me something. Anything.....
You then list three of the most incredible athletes in their sport and asked what would happen if they got hormone blocks. Its all hypothetical but they would likely still be amazing athletes. In your haste and anger you probably missed me saying that there are individual variances in trans athletes and cis athletes.
You can continue to be hot and bothered about this issue that is not important and has no data supporting your side. I am moving to more important things.

It's kinda scary how much these guys use "studies" without any supplemental logic or common sense. This is what I'm afraid AI will also do.Wow, this is why the lefties are labeled crazy. Sometimes you just have to use logic and some crap study just prove your point.

So in other words we should just assume that cis women get injured more readily when trans women are competing instead of actually looking to see if it happens? Its common sense, huh? It's kinda scary how much these guys use "studies" without any supplemental logic or common sense. This is what I'm afraid AI will also do.
Our woman definitiely need to be protected by our strong Republican men from the bogeyman, right?

I am just pointing out facts to a flat earther and you essentially anchoring on some "study" that it has to be flat. There is a reason I do not argue with lefties, they always pull out some "study" to make it indisputable.
If you are anchored that 2-4 yrs of transitioning essentially takes away any advantage let me just give you one easy example without some unsubstantiated study.
Lia Thomas pre transition was a Penn Male swimmer. 200m race. His best time was 1:39, NCAA men champion 1:30 or about 9 seconds, NCAA Mens record 1:28. He was not even close to being able to compete. He was not considered an elite NCAA male swimmer.
Lia Thomas Post transition was a Penn female swimmer. 200m race. Her best time was 1:41, NCAA womens record 1:39 or about 2 seconds.
Fact is He was no where near an elite swimmer competing against males but then suddenly became an elite swimmer post transitioning competing against females.
I am sure you will explain this away with some weird fact just like flat earthers do. Your just an odd person spending all your time debating everyone on this thread.
The NCAA said there are about 10 trans athletes out of 500000 again showing how silly this whole discussion is.I don’t know why we are torpedoing our country over a handful of trans athletes. I would prefer no one played sports ever again so that we can move on to things that actually matter.

There is a whole lot more to the Lia Thomas vs Gaines controversy.
For the 10th time, I am stating that this issue is of no importance to me and has little meaning in the grand scheme of things. The right continues to want to dig their heels on something that affects literally a handful of athletes and then go on to try to widely discriminate against them. We all know why their focus is here and not on something important. They have messed up everything important with poor policies and feckless people running them.
Trans gender athletes make up less than 0.002% of all college athletes.
You are welcome to your views. I am not going to call you names like you did above to me. I will just leave you with the same question that I posed to bedrock before you jumped in which remains unanswered. That question is if this issue is so important to right wingers why havent they put together a comprehensive study that support their views? It is not hard to do. It has been studied and the results are what I mentioned earlier. I know that you dont like them. I cant help you there.
Peace be with you.
I agree. Fun to discuss maybe, but of no actual importance. Just a distraction from the rest of the problems we face. There is a whole lot more to the Lia Thomas vs Gaines controversy.

I would only care if my daughter was beat up/injured in a sports competition by a man. If my doc was trans- who cares. As long as they are good at their job.
I see nothing concerning. Does something about it bother you?How does reading this strike you?
"Mr. El-Sayed, 41, earned a doctorate in public health from Oxford University and a medical degree from Columbia—though he didn’t complete an internship and isn’t licensed to practice medicine. Instead of caring for patients, he has spent his career nurturing ties to progressive groups. “My career has never been about trying to maximize on money, otherwise I would have just gone and been a surgeon,” he said in June.
Still, he hasn’t done too shabbily. He and his wife, Sarah Jukaku, earned $686,069 in income last year, according to a financial disclosure report he released last month. That would rank him among Michigan’s top 1% of earners."
How does this strike you?
Trump made more than $1bn from crypto in first year back in office
The president's crypto income far outpaces his earnings from real estate and Trump-themed items such as watches.
"In a 927-page disclosure, [Trump] reported $635m in royalties from an entity called Celebration Coins, thought to be behind the $TRUMP meme coin which has plunged in value since he launched it days before taking office."
a. noone is wanting the US to turn to the Russia model.1-real control of the border including deporting criminals who are illegals, and limiting fundamentalist (muslim) terrorists from entering the country
2- parental rights, including limiting state interference and/or hiding information from parents.
3- Meritocracy in higher education and employment, including stopping the ridiculous spread of DEI
4- Utilizing our natural resources of oil and gas, both to improve the US economy and so we are not dependent on unscrupulous counties for anything. I will add that the most ridiculous actions I've seen taken by the UK and EU is to stop producing their own energy and then end up buying energy from other countries at higher prices, and the counties from which they purchase their energy typically pollute the air and environment much more than if the western countries produced that energy themselves.
5-Cut jobs and waste in the US government. Not perfect to be sure, but much more of that has occurred in the last 2 years than in all of Biden's presidency
6- Protect biologic women from mentally ill men who want to compete in women's sports and spend time in women's restrooms and showers.
7- Protect children from doing irreversible harm to themselves via surgery, hormones, etc, at ages when a child cannot consent, and cannot understand.
8- Decrease regulation stifling business, home builders, and innovation in America.
9- Decrease government waste by requiring able bodied people who receive free federal healthcare, (medicaid) to work.
10-Protecting democratic elections by requiring government photo ID. (if you have to show ID at your doctor, airport, to buy beer, you can show it at the ballot box).
please please stop with this nonsense.
the rest of your comments are representative of the false narrative that you have devoured from right wing media.
b 1.the border is an issue, and democrats have tried to slow illegal immigration but you fail to see what was done because it was such a high yield republican talking point. obama doubled the size of border security including surveillance equipment. the admin essentially halted the growth of immigrant population in the US (it went from roughly 3.5 million to 12 million during the bush presidency to 11 million in 2015 during obama's time (see link #1 below). it was actually going up during the last few months of trumps term in office and increased during biden's term by 4 million.
2. meritocracy in higher ed is another right-wing talking point that is a false flag. it is meant to demean higher education because increased education almost invariably leads to more liberal viewpoints as individuals are exposed to different viewpoints and become more empathetic, one of the purposes of DEI.
3. we do not own oil and gas resources. we own land and we give companies discounts and tax breaks so they can get the oil and sell it for huge profits. we are dependent on these huge corporations who do not have the US best interest and are only interested in corporate profit. did gas prices go down when all those tankers came to the US?
5. Doge - we are paying 154,000 people not to work. none of the supposed DOGE savings have not been verified. the proported amount saved would have been 0.5% of the deficit. DOGE also had to go back and rehire multiple people that they fired (including nuclear regulators)
6. how many trans men participate in female pro sports? zero.
how many trans men participate in female ncaa sports? <10 in other words, 0.002% of NCAA participants.
if you are concerned about this, why are we not banning women who are, say >6ft 5 in or can bench over 200 pounds? or statistically, 6 ft 7 inches, because that number is essentially zero.
7. it is well proven that bottom surgery is not being provided by anyone under the age 18 anywhere in the US. apparently, top surgery is rare but possible for 16 year old with both parent consent. but apparently fully believe that kindergarten teachers are doing surgery on the side during nap time and reading time...
8. regulations are meant to protect the average american from unscrupulous behavior that constantly occurs as companies try to cut corners, sometimes literally (see Surfside tragedy with Florida lawmakers (gasp!) response as a classic example)
9. the amount of government waste in this issue is wildly exaggerated. 92% of medicaid recipients work or have valid exemptions.
10. time and again, it is not the federal government that gets to regulate elections. it is the state. requiring a federal mandate to show id is not constitutional. if a state wants to have a government id, then they should provide one for free to all citizens, because otherwise it is a poll tax and that is against the law. interestingly, republicans refuse the idea of providing all eligible voters with a free voter id... and again, you are buying in to the fear. these claims at best represent 1/100th of 1% of ballots submitted. (link 3). none of these affected any election.

you do know in the finals of the 100 m freestyle, she finished dead last, right?
before transitioning, he finished 2nd in the Ivy League championship on the 500 free, 1000 free and 1650 free. he had the 6th fastest national mens time in the 1000 free. he had the fastest time on the UPenn team in the 500 free, 1000 free and 1650 free.
to your comment about the 200m, he was 6th best on his team in that event. funny you chose to mention that one event, his worst.
she lost 15 seconds in the 500 free after transitioning.
and she is still a female today.

thats not what you said about Rachel Levine
if you go thru puberty as a male, no way you should be able to compete as a female. even if you dont, its still a big stretch, especially in contact sports or sports involving higher muscle mass/force -- so essentially all sports.
and sports arent important @Agast ? ummm??? super important to our society, health, fitness, mental health, socializing, gambling, advertising, production value, entertainment, etc.

Whole right wing ecosystems getting bent out of shape about 10 athletes or less out of over 500K.......not important.

It’s fascinating that the side that worships “the science” is a staunch science denier when it comes to the trans movement. I have a very liberal PhD friend who told me there’s 57 different genders. It’s truly insane. Very sad and unfortunate for all the biological women that unfairly lose titles and accolades to trans women. If you don’t have a daughter who’s in sports you could probably could care less, but it’s still unfair, pathetic and sad.

You guys never stop do you? You are criticizing the "left" for not following studies on trans woman but when I mention the studies you ignore them or say we don't need studies because it's commonsense.
If there is a study that supports your view, please produce it. I have been asking for awhile.
Otherwise you are no better than Trump claiming that the 2020 election is stolen or that mail in ballots are fraudulent...without evidence.
Lastly the chance that your daughter competes against a trans athlete is very very low. There are 10 athletes in the NCAA. Yet this is really impt to you. We all know why...
France has many of the programs/laws leftist on here want. High taxes, social programs, jobs protection, healthcare, rent control. This is what the DSA want, to be more like France. You know the oasis where HS students have mass protests over poor school conditions and get arrested /beaten by the thousands.
If you are looking for a failed state, France is doing a great job at it. France has an effective tax almost 2x the US. Still isn't enough. Eventually socialist/liberal policies crumble.

life expectancy France 83 US 79
healthcare score France 94 US 78
healthcare cost France minimal US $15,000
homicide rate France 1.3/100000, US 5.8/100000
cost of living rate France $2310 US $3510
France mandatory 35 hour workweek, US no mandatory but standard is 40
France mandatory 5 weeks vacation US no mandatory
salary index US 95 France 78

so yes salaries are higher and income is higher in the US but cost of living and other markers of quality of life are better in France.

The Life expectancy is so overused and like comparing carrot and watermelon. These statistics get thrown all the time and using it as a metric for healthcare is just dumb and you know it. It is only good to get votes and tik tok views. US, Cuba, China have similar life expectancy around 78-79 yrs. I think we can all agree that China and Cuba (Communism) have much worse systems overall. Now lets look at Obesity rates. US (40-45%), Cuba (21%) France (16%), China (Under 10%). As a physician, I would expect you to do better rather than throwing polluted numbers around. If you look at obesity, you would say that our healthcare is as good or superior to France given we have 3x the obesity rates but only lose 4 yrs.per AI:

Taxes? Again more picking what you want to believe. All taxes collected as % of Country GDP --> France 43%, US 25%. So France has close to 2x taxing income per GDP compared to the US but yet they can not keep the schools air conditioned in 90+ degree heat.
I have a radiology friend who lives in France actively trying to come to the US. I asked him why and he says, "The US is better at essentially everything including healthcare"
I bet if HS Students were protesting and the national police threw thousands in jail and injured thousands more, you guys would be throwing a hissy fit. We all know if you had a choice, you would not move to France. France kind of sucks.
43% taxes and still not enough money for all of their socialistic programs. Schools breaking down. HS kids rioting. Yeah, seems like a good recipe for a failed state.
i would argue that french society and quality of living is better so they do not have 3 times the obesity rate, and thus not lose 4 years of life.If you look at obesity, you would say that our healthcare is as good or superior to France given we have 3x the obesity rates but only lose 4 yrs.

2. france did not use to need air conditioning but probably due to global warming, they do now. only 7% of french schools historically had air conditioning, but 8 of the hottest years on record have occurred in the past 10 years. its called global warming.
and i have a friend who was a double boarded pediatric ID doctor who moved to France 3 years ago and said that everything is much better in france. clinical vignettes are so helpful, eh? btw, see belowI have a radiology friend who lives in France actively trying to come to the US. data to back up that americans are moving to france and not vice versa - which im pretty sure you do not have (because i looked for it)
Are More Americans and Britons Moving to France? What the 2025 Data Shows
Are more Americans and Britons moving to France? We analyse the latest official 2025 French immigration data, including US and UK residence permits, visitor visas, Brexit and what may be driving the trend.
The latest official French immigration statistics suggest that, at least when it comes to Americans, something interesting really is happening. In 2025, France issued 15,388 first residence permits to US citizens, up from 13,122 in 2024, an increase of 17.3% in a single year. Americans were the sixth-largest nationality receiving first French residence permits in 2025 and represented around 3.9% of all first permits issued to non-EU nationals.
from various websites, there appears to be almost no tracking because no recent immigration of french to america.
Your novel essentially tells me socialist-like policies in France has really screwed the nation. 43% Tax on GDP and they still have crumbling High school. They want to raise retirement and can't. France is the poster child for what not to do but book smart docs still want some of that. Hilarious......i would argue that french society and quality of living is better so they do not have 3 times the obesity rate, and thus not lose 4 years of life.
1. 2x is not 3x.
2. france did not use to need air conditioning but probably due to global warming, they do now. only 7% of french schools historically had air conditioning, but 8 of the hottest years on record have occurred in the past 10 years. its called global warming.
and i have a friend who was a double boarded pediatric ID doctor who moved to France 3 years ago and said that everything is much better in france. clinical vignettes are so helpful, eh? btw, see below

The Far right is gaining ground in France and picking up seats. If France's leftist policies were so great, I wonder why they want to lean more conservative. You would think they would push for more social services, higher taxes so they can live a healthier/better life. The answer is obvious but for some blinded by virtual signaling, it is tough to accept.
France can continue these DSA policies for all I care. This will lead to either a more conservative governance or continued downfall towards a failed state.

I thought we all knew by now that AI is not a reliable source and definitely should never be used as a definitive source…. Sighper AI:
life expectancy France 83 US 79
healthcare score France 94 US 78
healthcare cost France minimal US $15,000
homicide rate France 1.3/100000, US 5.8/100000
cost of living rate France $2310 US $3510
France mandatory 35 hour workweek, US no mandatory but standard is 40
France mandatory 5 weeks vacation US no mandatory
salary index US 95 France 78
taxes US 28% France 34%
so yes salaries are higher and income is higher in the US but cost of living and other markers of quality of life are better in France.
so it seems a push to everyone but a die hard conservative who preaches 'Merica first
no but these are facts that can be checked easily if you want to delve deeper.

they dont have french schoolteachers paying for student supplies, do they.
they dont have 17% of younger age school teachers planning on leaving their profession in the next few years like the US do they.
france has a retirement issue.
so does the US, with social security becoming less financially stable in 6 years.
fwiw, what did the french do? they changed the laws to try to make it more solvent. what has the US done? nothing and not looking good...
in terms of the right gaining ground in france, lets revisit your perspective in the US after the midterms.
It is pretty telling that the Republicans are using probably 50% of their campaign money and time talking about how the Democrats want men to play women's sports. Like, how many Democrats have come out and said that's a policy issue for them?
If you actually read Talarico's political positions, they're generally admirable, especially targeting corruption ending dark money super pac donations. Ken Paxton is refusing to debate Talarico for a reason. Inflation is terrible, we're spending billions of dollars of Trump/Hegseth/etc vanity projects, what else do the Republicans have to hang their hat on but "Talafreako" and "Low-T Jimmy?"
That stuff will work on old people who are incapable of flexible thinking, or when your opponent is a elderly dementia patient replaced by an uncharismatic corporate shill, but I suspect the Republicans will have to find some new messaging going forward.

This public execution thing is fascinating too. I have no problem with the Fort Hood guy being executed, even by firing squad. Having the execution livestreamed is pretty weird though. Are we trying to emulate Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea? I guarantee that Pete Hegseth is one of these guys that watches Starship Troopers and comes out really pumped up and inspired, completely missing the satire.
If the public execution thing does go forward, which is hard to imagine, it will be a very interesting psych experiment to see how many people and from what demographics livestream it. Would it be the same viewers who watch MMA? If this public execution trend continues, will viewers get to have vote on the method of execution? Will there be a betting market on final words of the condemned, or who fires the fatal shot? Interesting times for the country...

Are there any “independents” here criticizing any of this? Or they are just busy worrying about socialism?
Today was the first day in the last 12 that I did not get a negative Talorico ad in the mail from the Republcian machine. I think its too late. For better or worse, I think most people have made up their mind.It is pretty telling that the Republicans are using probably 50% of their campaign money and time talking about how the Democrats want men to play women's sports. Total Registered Voters: 17,485,702
- Democrats: 8,133,683 (46.52%)
- Republicans: 6,601,189 (37.75%)
- Unaffiliated: 2,750,830 (15.73%)
It all depends on turnout and this election is no different
To be fair, are you worried we are going back to the Wild West? Or you think the guy doesn't deserve it?Are there any “independents” here criticizing any of this? Or they are just busy worrying about socialism?
I guess it's aimed at deterring other Islamic radicals considering mass murder as their jihad?

I am fine with capital punishment (probably unpopular opinion on the left). But why make it a reality show? This is something I expect in a place like Afghanistan; not in the greatest democracy in the world.
Let’s be completely honest here: would this administration consider the capital punishment for James Alex Fields Jr. in the same manner? We all know the answer, don’t we?

It is way out of bounds but an administration that will go down as the worse in history of the US and will make the top 10 of the worst in the history of the world. Many of its supporters will disavowed it years from now. I hope all of them lose their jobs.

The left celebrates this when it is the other side.
