I just took Organic one at my university and I passed with an A. It wasn't too bad..but it was 6 wks and I had to cram it all in quickly. So, they are offering Organic II for this next semester in a week. It's a 6 wk course as well. I'm not sure if I should take it because the teacher has pretty bad reviews...he doesn't curve. Is organic II harder than organic I? If I did very well in organic I, does this mean that I should do fine (A) in organic II?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Why are you asking in pre-dental and not pre-pharm?
Anyhow, if you can't handle a teacher that does not give curves... then I guess you're relying on everyone else other than your own study habits, etc to get you through.

whoa kind of a rude response la dentista. Predents take organic chem as well. I feel bad for people that have to deal with your negativity on a daily basis.

orgo II is slightly harder than I.

It doesn't matter if your prof has bad reviews. Reviews are just reviews.

Meaning people who get A's = gives good reviews.
People who gets low grades = complain and gives bad reviews.

If you got an A in Orgo I you should be fine.

Since it's Orgo II, you are expected to know all of the Orgo I stuff so I would suggest taking it now since you just completed Orgo I.

In orgo II, memorizing is to a limit, you should really understand the bigger picture of how the mechanisms work.

Good luck 👍

I found Ochem 2 slightly easier than ochem 1 and received As in both of them. Ochem 2 seemed to be a few more reactions but I'm sure all schools classes are changed a little bit. It's also helpful to do them consecutively so you will be fresh. Also, you shouldn't rely on curves. Usually the people that complain about them on the teacher rating sites are the ones that didn't spend the time to learn the material. Good Luck!

I'm very nice most of the time, some people are just sensitive.

Who cares who he asks, pharm and dent take pretty much the same stuff, bio, calc, chem, physics, eng..

and i wouldnt take a teacher who received mostly bad reviews. If on average most people vote them average or have hardly any votes then they are usually okay, but never ignore the warning signals. Landed me a big fat C in english because my teacher was crap. seriously. she gave out zeros even if u did the assignment
dont take bad teachers.
well, maybe organic it would be just bad teaching methods and u would have to work harder. At least it is objective right wrong answers, they cant say "u dont read essays good enough.. blah blah, u are suppose to have 2 commas by your so", so, "lol." pathetic.

In some ways it is easier, because at that point it is just adding a whole slew of reactions. Orgo I covers a lot of background material and theory before delving into reactions.

great advice thank you!
