Speeding Ticket

I got a speeding ticket when traveling through Wyoming, in November 2024 and have been an applicant this cycle.

From my searches, I believe all speeding tickets in Wyoming are considered misdemeanors, even though it was not reckless driving. I was going 11 MPH over the speed limit on a highway (not in a school or construction zone etc). I was pulled over, given the ticket, paid it and then drove off.

What should be my immediate next steps? Do I disclose this on applications, do I need to manually notify each school I am still considering?

Most speeding tickets like those you describe are likely minor and don't need to be reported, but you may want to notify schools where you interviewed. This should not impede getting an offer.

NEVER pay a ticket and ALWAYS go to court and ask for a trial. If the cop doesn't show up to court, plead not guilty and you're off completely free. If he/she does show up, plead guilty with explanation, come up with some BS, and then you'll almost always be given a waiver (in MD it's called Probation Before Judgement) where they waive the points/charges and only make you pay the fine.

unless the ticket was for felony speeding, do not worry and don't bother reporting it. Same goes for DUI, report that. But a generic speeding ticket, don't even bother.
