I AM!! I am planning on applying to Columbia, Yale, UNC, BU, Johns Hopkins and Tulane. I am interested in Health Policy and Management programs. I am starting to look into MSc in health decision science too though. I am also looking at programs overseas but havent found any that seem perfect.
I might be applying to Tulane for the spring as well (either community health or global health systems, haven't decided), although I may take spring semester off anyway... conveniently, on Tulane's website they say they don't have a deadline for submitting your intent to enroll, which I found to be strange, but good!

Is it very rare for people with work ex in non health related fields to get an admit?
I got my welcome package to TAMU and the admission acceptance deadline is set for September 16. I was not called for any interviews though. Still waiting for UT. Heard they start their admissions process after Sep 16th. By then most deadlines are over(A&M, OU and University of Pittsburgh) and I will have only Tulane, UNT and University of South Florida left.
i did mail them back telling them that i am interested in the admission!! But am a bit confused regarding what all documents i am supposed to send them!!
Even i am keeping my fingers crossed for UTH admissions but i cant let TAMU go.. what have u planned to do
This is really unfair for the applicants that some schools have set their deadlines so early while others start the admissions process late. I got several other offers so I am going to wait for UT.
Btw A&M welcome package does not mention a deadline. Only when I e mailed they said to notify my decision by Sep 16th if possible. So I don't think they are very strict about it.
I got my TAMU welcome package today. TAMU is only school I applied so far.other schools are Boston, gwu and uab but SOPHAS would mail to schools only on oct 5th !!!
As an international applicant I am worried about timelines and sending confirmation to TAMU . Guys please share any feedback about TAMU n it's mph- management program if possible
TAMU is a very well known brand in US.. And the program is very intensive.. Specially the health policy and managment one..
Cost wise itsa one of the cheapest programs in US. But RA/TA opportunities are very limited specially for the spring term. They are not generous when it comes to financial aid too. But like in any university in texas if u manage to bag a job in the university u'll be eligible for instate tuition rates which makes the program extremely cheap.
U can forward the needed documents to them and get ur I20 while u wait for other universities to reply. They are very quock and once they have all the needed docs u will get ur I 20 within a week. Best thing wud be to scan and send them the documents.
TAMU is ramked 25th by USNEWS and there many universities ranked above it.. I wud suggest if finances are not e. UAB is another excellent option. u shud surely wait for their sdecision.. But do get ur I20 from tamu..
Thanks a lot prodigious it surely helps!!!! Finance is a bit of a concern. TAMU appears to be a good package. I have just decided to process request for I20
Hello
Got acceptance from BU with merit scholarship of 12000. Can someone comment on the probability of getting financial assistance from univ for international students?
How adversely would the job prospects vary after graduation from TAMU and BU?
BU is a great university and i am sure will have lots of TA/RA opportunities, better than TAMU. Also since BU is in the east coast, which is the health center of united states BU will be much better place to make contacts which are essential for getting jobs.. Its all about proper networking..
Having said that BU will burn a bigger hole in ur pocket even after the merit scholarship. So my 2 cents are if u can manage the finances then go for BU.. Try and finish the entire course in a year which is very doable and make as many contacts as possible. All this will transform into great opportunities!!!
Thank you prodigious for your valuable input. I found Boston quite expensive inspite of the scholarship hence would drop it.
I know you highly recommended UAB. I got an admit today into their healthbcare organization program.
I am yet to get I 20 but looks like both univ have same fee. Could you guys please message or reply with any feedback on life@UAB
