Do any of your facilities have a way to get checked off to translate if you are fluent in another language? If so, what does the process look like? Is that same process available to nurses and techs?

Do any of your facilities have a way to get checked off to translate if you are fluent in another language? If so, what does the process look like? Is that same process available to nurses and techs?

Every institution will have some process for this. Most of the ones I'm familiar with require staff (including physicians) to be certified either as fluent via a test, or be certified/licensed (whatever your locality calls it) medical interpreters. Any staff member can do it if they're interested. In my non-EM clinic setting with a large Spanish speaking population, we have one front desk person who's certified and one nurse who's working on it.
