I think the waitlist is still moving btw. 2 people joined the group today, but the number of students on it (69) stayed the same....so I assume some people dropped out and others took their spots?

I assume this is how things are going....

There are a few open spots and Garcia is giving them out on a case by case basis as they become available. He let me know on Saturday and I don't have to reply until next week. I'm waiting on some questions from the financial aid office....as well as my award letter... and I haven't even received my acceptance packet in the mail yet. So, I don't plan on making any final decision until this weekend and letting Dean Garcia know on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm sure there are other people who came off the waitlist Saturday as well, and I'm sure there will be additional shuffle as other Stanford admits come off the waitlist other places like UCSF, UCSD, Harvard, Penn, Cornell, Columbia, Sinai, state schools, anywhere else in the United States, etc. and choose to attend over Stanford for whatever reason they have.

I still think we all forget how ridiculously small the class size is at Stanford. It's literally 40 males and 46 females, of which 7000 people applied for those spots. So, waitlist movement is definitely gonna be slower here than it is other places. Last year had people coming in off the waitlist in June.

I imagine next movement will be next week after this last round of admits make finals decisions. So hold tight.

To the best of my knowledge everyone on the facebook group is attending. It's past May 15th, so I doubt anyone has multiple offers at this point. But, may be holding out on waitlists? Two other people joined on Monday (and, I assume?) two other people withdrew, because there are still 69 members...unchanged from this weekend.

I think it's "Stanford Medical School Entering Class of 2010", you have to be approved, but everyone's an admin so I could do it, lol.

I wouldn't even worry about a facebook group...it's highly likely a handful of people won't join.

Nope. I just searched it out. No prompts from anyone...to be honest, I haven't even received my acceptance packet yet (I'm still thinking this was all some joke), so I'm not even sure if they prompt you for this. I think it's highly unlikely everyone who's enrolled is on the facebook group. I know a lot of people my age who don't even have facebook accounts...lol.

I will say though, that if anyone is accepted off the waitlist, the financial aid office does work lightning fast. I overnighted my tax returns on Monday around 3 PM (from the East Coast) and got my financial aid offer on Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours later.

I don't know about how many people are non 2014ers. I just noticed there was a student or two on the list that I had met on interview day, and there are some current students posting update info on Re-visit Weekend, SWEAT, etc. So I highly doubt everyone there is a new student.

Haha yeah, I just saw you got added (I get an email anytime anyone joins the group). We for some reason had a few people join today. So it's up to 71. I don't necessarily think these are new admits.

I'm willing to bet that zero are open until next week. I think recently accepted people are taking that time to decide, just like May 15th...they'll wait until the last moment.

Will it help? Probably not.
Will it hurt? Definitely not.

That's my two cents. I think Stanford tends to err on the side of less communication is better.
