i've always wanted to do research and i keep telling myself i will, but every semester became busier than the previous semester and i just couldn't. i didn't really find much time for other clubs and extracurriculars either. i volunteered at the hospital a couple times, shadowed a little, and was a member of 2 clubs. that's about it.
but i finally found a professor to do research with and i told him i would start in the fall 2010 semester because i want to spend this summer studying/taking DATs and shadowing and applying.
i also know research looks good on an application. is there anyway i can say on my application that i will start research in the fall? (or will this mean absolutely nothing to dental schools admissions officers?) or should i suck it up and do some research this summer?
advice please?

it should be fine, i did pretty much the same thing.

i always wanted to do research but never got around to it because of the busy semesters so i did it during the year after finishing up my undergrad. i applied summer 2009, and did research from summer 2009 and onward. at my interview, they asked me about my research experience a lot. IMO it should be ok to do it after you apply but mention it in the application time line on AADSAS. good luck!
