Hey guys I was wondering what is a good starting percent on World? I have done 160 questions, random for the first time and I am only at 50%. My goal is a 230 on step 2. I have exactly 24 days to study and nothing else to do for these days. Do you guys think I have a shot at obtaining my goal? Anyone else start off with a low percent on World and end up doing well on the exam?

you need to beef up your IM. that's where the bulk of the points are.

do a few IM-only quizzes, and see what your percentage is. if it's low, hit the Kaplan IM book over the next 3 weeks.

Don't worry about your percent. Even if it starts low your goal is to learn. If you learn, it will slowly rise over time. Use the Qbank to learn. Look at the right and wrong answers. Read up on things you are weak on (time allowing). If you have to take the test by a certain date, don't worry about the percentage. Just work hard to learn as much as you can. Try to get through all of UW

The best advice you can get on how to use UW. It's easy to get caught up in the percentages (especially early on), but the proper way to use World is primarily as an educational tool. Use tutor mode, read the explanations, and look up anything further that you don't understand.

The percentages will slowly rise (very slowly), but just keep chugging along, learning as much as you can.

That is what I thought at first until I did an NBME. When I did an NBME it turned out that Psychiatry, Behavioral, OB GYN, and this little stuff here and there were truely my weakness, while I did generally well in the IM parts.

So don't be fooled by the the percentage of each subject on the test. If you are already good in IM, focus on strengthening what you are weak at. That could be far more High yield than trying to improve your IM knowledge by looking for esoteric information.

Make sure you know the basics about the little things too.
