anyone hear anything lately? Wow, is this wait ever nerve-racking.

Hi there,
As this wait goes on, I was just wondering what peoples GPA was straight from Highschool? As in when applying for the 6year program? I am currently a Canadian Student who is in his first year at UBC. I applied with my high school marks.

Mine was around a 89% could I get it with these marks? Any answers will be helpful.

Thanks!

Well I was rejected from RCSI yesterday it was very devastating that they rejected me so quickly.:(

oh my god! what? I'm sorry to hear that. Do you mind telling us, if they sent you an email/a letter? Wow that's scary. I guess they've finally begun looking at applications. Oh god.

Well I was rejected from RCSI yesterday it was very devastating that they rejected me so quickly.:(

oh and were you an applicant for the 4year program or 5 year program, and did you apply for the RCSI Bahrain as well? Thanks.

Sorry to hear this... If you don't mind telling us, how did they contact you, how was your application profile like? (i.e. undergraduate degree or high school, Bahrain or Dublin, American/Canadian, research experience/volunteer experience) Did you apply or hear back from any other universities? Thanks!

They sent me a letter that I received in the mail yesterday. No return address on it or anything. I only applied to RCSI in Ireland not the one Bahrain. Applied to the 5 yr program. Application profile was pathetic so no worries to any of you real canidates. I'm a junior Biology/Religion & Philosophy Major in North Carolina, USA. At the time I sent in the application I did not have my research experience complete so there was none on my resume that I sent them. I have some volunteer experience with some medical clinics in Honduras. I have not heard back from any of the other Unis. I've been on the Trinity Campus and love it there, but would really love to get into UCD. Any other questions just let me know.
Waiting to hear from
UCD, Trinity,
Birmingham, Bristol, & Liverpoole in the UK

thanks abeasock, how did you apply to the UK schools? is it too late to do so? do you happen to know the pre-reqs for the UK? thanks once again.

I applied through UCAS.com this is the only way to apply to most medical schools in England no matter whether you are from there or international. I believe the cut off date of the application was Oct. 15. So you would have to wait until next year. The application was very basic and confusing. I really don't see how they get a real picture of the student as there is so little information provided. The pre-reqs vary for each school. I applied to Bristol, Birmingham, and Liverpoole because these are the only schools that do not require entrance exams like the UKcat, etc.

Hey im also in high school and im also from canada lol...umm... i applied as a late applicant to RCSI, the due date just past recently... i think it was Feb 15th. So im really not sure when they will be sending acceptance letters.
In terms of my average...its around 88%, but yea im really not sure if i can get into medicine with this average...but im working hard this sem to boost it up to a 90...hopefulli things will work out :)

Sigh. Still waiting! Haven't heard from any of the schools by either e-mail or snail mail. Patience is a virtue I guess :luck:

Hey everyone, I'm still waiting as well...I've applied to UCD, Trinity, Cork and RCSI. Does anyone how they look at your MCATs? Do they look at all of them? the most recent one? the highest one?

I know the Irish schools are all about looking at the "whole" applicant. So I am betting you can assume they look at all of your marks.

For my sake I hope they look at the highest mark on each section as I have a 9 and 11 in VR... :(

Not me...I hope they look at either the most recent or the best because I've wrote several times...everytime I did brutal except my last one which is pretty good (according to my standards.)

I'm still waiting too. I spoke to them a while back and they said that they look at your most recent score.

I received a letter in the mail today, I was rejected from Trinity :( Things are beginning to looke very hazy for me

I applied to: UCD, RCSI, Trinity
Rejected: RCSI, Trinity
Still waiting to hear from: UCD
Number one choice: UCD.

Hey sorry to hear about Trinity abeasock, keep your head up because you applied to a lot of English schools as well as UCD right?
Just stay positive!

Ditto. I know its hard sometimes (I applied to some schools in the states, and I still have no interviews :( )but it is important to stay positive and always be counter-planning.

Also, I know that a lot of schools in Ireland (not sure about Trinity though) will wait for your April MCAT. If you're not too busy, maybe it will be worth it to take it?

Yeah, looks like that was because you didn't have MCATs. They're big on it here.

Hey Giantaxon, I have the same MCAT scores! First attempt was 29Q, with the same breakdown, second attempt was 28R! (with much worst breakdown, ps8/vr8/bs12) Obviously extremely disappointed with that, but hopefully they'll be enough for somewhere, and i will not have to re-write.

I am banking on the popular idea that Ireland really does like well-roundness...
The schools in Ireland I applied to are: Trinity, UCC, UCD.

Good luck to everyone, hopefully we'll start getting some news soon.

Just got my Trinity rejection as well. Anyone know how long it takes for UCD or UCC to get back?

Hey,
Just a question, everyone here has been receiving rejection letters, has anyone been accepted? yet to any school in Ireland? So basically if you hear from them now it means your rejected? Any acceptance letters from Trinity or RCSI or UCD??

Also does RCSI send letters for both Dublin and Brhm seperately?

Lets hear about someone who got accepted!!! lol:):)

Haha, seriously! It seems like they're sending out rejections before they send out acceptances :) I have yet to hear of anyone who has been accepted to any of the schools...

Good Luck to all!

Hey,

I have an interview coming up for RCSI in Toronto...so obviously no acceptance yet from them. I have not heard anything from the other Ireland schools.

I did ask RCSI about the whole Dublin/Bahrain thing, and they said that the two schools will send everything separately.

Hope that helps!

Congrats Cobey! I just have a couple questions for you if you don't mind. Are u applying to the 4 or 6 year program? and where are u from?

I spoke with ABP, and they told me that first they will interview 6yr students and then they will interview 4 yr students.

best of luck.

Yes, it would be intresting to validate this above statement.

hey Cobey,
CONGRATS u got accepted!! im currently in high school and i applied to RCSI as a late applicant so i dunno wen they will look at my application...however i do know 1 person who applied way before, i think in nov...and she has an interview coming up as well... anyways just wanted to know which program u applied for and wat ur marks wer like...thanxx

Just got my Trinity rejection as well. Anyone know how long it takes for UCD or UCC to get back?
It's highly variable. The year I applied most of the accepctances were sent out in late-April or early May form UCC but that was a late year as they had just hired a new admissions officer. The next year they started accepting in February. Last year people were hanging until about June waiting for answers for a variety of reasons. Don't konw about UCD but I never did hear from them; I'm assuming I was rejected. I got my rejection from Trinity in late-January or early February as I recall-very thin envelope:laugh:.
Good luck to you all. The wait sucks but like Christmas, eventually it pays off (although somewhat unevenly - just like Christmas really!).Cheers,
M (don't want to write this stupid paper)(very sleepy)

Hey everyone!
Just another questions.

So as someone said earlier, some of you have received letters from RCSI for interviews. When did you receive them? Is it a one day thing only. So if people who did not get them yet are automatically rejected?

I am applying to the six year program through a canadian high school. So if I haven't heard from them, I prob haven't got accepted?

Will there be another set of interviews?

Thanks!!!
:luck::luck:

Don't worry yet, if you read around RCSI usual does 2 waves of interviews, plus they have already started sending out some rejection letters. Therefore you may still be in the running for becoming an RCSI med student. I was trying to make that sound like america's next top model...lol.

Hey CytoFabulous, so we are MCAT twins eh? Well, I am routing for you! I am hoping that the schools will also favourably view a solid GPA over that stupid test. ;)

In terms of people being accepted, I personally know people who were accepted to veterinary medicine at UDC. I actually held the big shiny acceptance package and began to imagine it was for the medicine program. ;)

But after contacting AB they said that no medicine acceptances have been given out and that one should begin to expect some more action in 2-3 weeks. This was one week ago btw. They also said that if you haven't heard anything yet that one can take that as a positive sign that you are still in the running.

So that's what I know on the topic.

Okay everyone, let's all pray that this is our week! I don't think I can take too much more of all this suspense.

No kidding!...
I have yet to hear from UCD, Trinity and NUIG. Anyone know when they are going to get around to it?! UCC was pretty quick in rejecting me lol ... and that was by email! Quick and painless like ripping off a bandaid.

Mr. Keenan sent me an email .. I have a letter from Trinity on the way (rejecting me, unfortunately)... so now all is left is UCD and NUIG... sigh...

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sending you all my best thoughts for UCD and NUIG! I wish all these schools would just tell us already, I think I hate the waiting more than anything else.

Hey Everyone!!
So it is almost the 2nd week of March. Do we all assume if we did not get any rejection letters so far we are accepted:):). Anyone here front Trinity? or even UCD. When will the second set of interviews for RCSI start?

This waiting is going to kill me, I literally check my post mail every day!! HURRY!:luck::luck::luck::luck:

You're not alone brownie, I'm SUPER nervous/anxious so much that it's distracting me from my local interview at U of Manitoba! Anyhow, I'm pretty sure that they will just out rejections still even later...blah.

I've just received an acceptance letter dated February 22 from UCC for their GEP. Not sure whether to accept (and hence place a deposit) or forgo this opportunity and wait to hear from other schools! Anyone else in this position?

I think you should accept UCC. I know I would do anything to hold that letter in my hand.

I received a rejection letter from Trinity today and UCC last week. So for me I have RCSI Dublin, RCSI Brahmim, and UCD left to look forward to. All for the 6 year program.

Wish me good luck:oops:
