Stats of Applicants to Irish schools and Acceptance, Waitlist or Rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone received a rejection from any of the Irish schools as of yet?

Does any one know if all the schools one has applied to, will respond either with an admission or a rejection?

Hey guys, if any of you are still waiting for UCD (4 year), I just got an acceptance but will be declining because I have decided to attend RCSI. Hope someone else gets a shiny envelope with an acceptance soon!! I'm sending in the decline ASAP so hopefully your wait won't be too much longer. Also, for anyone who was wondering (because I sure was curious), it definitely is possible to receive more than one offer.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!! :luck:

Congratulations LeafsFan ! Just out of curiosity what is making you choose RCSI over UCD?

Thanks 🙂 If only the Canadian schools showed me this much love eh. 😛

I'm choosing RCSI because of the smaller program and because I have a number of personal connections to the school. I also like how RCSI is healthcare focused, and has a high level of clinical exposure from the start. Both programs seem wonderful and have good match rates from what I've heard, and RCSI is just a better fit for me.

anyone hear from UCD about getting into the 6 year program yet?

I have a friend that is in her 2nd year at UCD, but she told me someone from US was just accepted to the 6 year program there but may not take it.

I haven't received a peep from any of the schools I applied to. I guess no news is good news... 🙁

Does anyone know when NUIG will begin their offers?

Congrats! Out of curiosity, do you know what day the offer was sent off via Fedex?

I've been lurking these boards for ages, waiting waiting waiting. I even thought my application didn't make it in.

But! I just got an email with an interview offer for University of Limerick (for Toronto).

Anyone else?

🙂

I got an interview invite today too!

Already booked my flight and hotel! I'm staying at the King Edward Hotel. The Hyatt Regency, where the interviews are being held, was like $233/night and that's too expensive for me. I'll be in Toronto for 2 nights.

Nice!!

I'm debating a hotel right now - I'm not too far from Toronto, but not driving into the city in the morning would be a great thing. Lessens the stress haha

It's postmarked March 22 🙂

Congrats and good luck to everyone with upcoming Limerick interviews! For the out of towners, there is a Sheraton hotel (Queen St/Univerity Ave) about 1km from the Hyatt if you're looking for better rates. There's also a Hilton that is slightly closer (Richmond/University).

I'm an out-of-countryer. And its my first time to Toronto.

Any advice for getting from the airport to my hotel (The King Edward at King St & Yonge St)?

The airport is ridiculously close to the city, is there a subway or bus I can take?

Chronos - There is a shuttle to downtown from the Airport.

It has a couple of dropoff locations. The Fairmont is right by Union Station which is the central hub for the subway, but one of the other hotel stops may be closer.

Nice, I was just going to suggest this...you beat me to it. 🙂 You get a discount if you prebook online, and it's cheaper to book round trip. Looks like they recently updated their list of stops to make it more efficient (yay!) so the closest to the King Eddie would be the Fairmont Royal York. It's about a 5-10 minute walk depending on how fast you walk. I live in downtown Toronto so if you have any other questions about getting around the city feel free to ask! Hope you enjoy your visit! 🙂

On behalf of UL MedSoc, we want to congratulate you and everyone else that received an interview invite from UL GEMS. We wish you the best of luck and hope to see you next year!

Just saw a charge from ABP on my credit card. I applied to RCSI, UL and UCD for the graduate entry programs. I haven't received an e-mail for an interview invite anywhere so I can only assume it is correspondence from UCD. I also didn't receive an e-mail with a copy of the acceptance letter so is this a rejection from UCD? Has anybody else received a rejection from UCD? Thanks!

If it's FedEx it's acceptance. If it's snail mail it's rejection. Therefore, congratulations ! You've been accepted to UCD ! 😀

What are your stats please?

I got the email for an interview at UL today as well! 🙂 Anyone else interviewing in Toronto? I still have to call in to book which day I want to interview for.

Sorry forgot to post my stats although I only got an interview offer at UL.

I'm from: Toronto, ON
My country of citizenship is: Canada
Currently studying: Graduated with Honors B.Sc. in Biology
At this University: University of Western Ontario
My GPA is: 3.0-3.3
My MCAT Scores were: First time was 25S second time 27 (written portion was taken out). Verbal was what killed my overall score.

I applied to: All Ireland Schools except RCSI Bahrain
I was accepted at: So far just have an interview offer at UL
I was waitlisted at:
I was rejected from:

Also, I heard that the interview process isn't too intense but I am curious as to how many people they interview and how many they tend to accept/reject.

I'm interviewing in Toronto, on the Saturday. I decided to book a hotel room for two nights, so I have somewhere other than the mall to kill time at in the afternoon. The thought of waiting around in the Eaton Centre in business clothes doesn't sound too appealing 😛

My stats are:

I'm from: East GTA, Ontario
My country of citizenship is: Canada
Studied: Graduated from Chemical Engineering
At this University: University of Western Ontario (2010 graduation)
My GPA is: 3.0-3.3 (depending on the scale)
My MCAT Score was: 30P

I applied to: All Ireland Schools in GEP and 5 Year
I was accepted at: Interview with UL
I was waitlisted at: --
I was rejected from: The 3 Canadian schools I could apply for *sigh*

Also, I heard that the interview process isn't too intense but I am curious as to how many people they interview and how many they tend to accept/reject.

I heard they accept 30-40 people, and interview about 30 people per day.

Does anybody know if there are any other interview locations, or is it just Toronto?

Just from what I read on the ABP website, there are interviews in Toronto, Vancouver, and New York.

To date UL GEMS have only held interviews in Toronto.

I'm accepted to RCSI and NUIG. Other than the fee difference. What are their differences?

Got the offer ffrom NUIG yesterday through email. Its the 6 year program. They give 21 days from the date of the letter to reply,

Congratulations. So, undergrad can get 2 offers.

Thanks. I guess you are after the GEP. My question now is that since NUIG is 18,000 euro less than RCSI. Is RCSI that much better or is NUIG not at the same academic level?

Actually, I was accepted into the RCSI 6-year program starting in September and currently finishing my grade 12. I was under the impression that undergrads can only get 1 offer. I cannot speak for why RCSI is better than NUIG but jnuts has a great post about RCSI yesterday in a different thread:

Congrats! has anyone heard from the 5 year program at NUI or TCD yet? also, if we don't receive an offer letter or rejection letter in the next week or so we're wait listed correct?

I'm also waiting for these schools! I heard from ABP TCD is first week April but not sure about NUIG.

From ABP: first rounds for UCC, UCD, RCSI and NUIG have all been sent out. First round interviews UL sent out. First round TCD will be sent out early April. Second round interviews RCSI and offers from NUIG late April.
For everyone still waiting, there is still so much time left! We are very early in the admissions process so don't lose hope!!

Thanks for the update! Do you know if NUIG has sent out the 5year offers yet? I've heard people around the forum getting offers for the 6year program...but nothing about 5year 🙁

Same concern here. Also, I know that some people received their offers through email so I'm just wondering if rejections would also come through email as well? And this may seem random but are the acceptance letters fedexed from the ABP office?

By all first round offers they meant for all programs. I'm also waiting on the 5 year from NUIG and TCD that's why I emailed them.

Hi there,

The acceptance letters are sent out from the ABP in California after they receive the offer of admission from the Irish medical school. You will also receive an email notifying you of your acceptance before you get the hard copy.

Cheers

Have rejections also been sent out for 4-5 year programs? I haven't gotten a rejection, but no acceptances from schools that don't interview.

I haven't heard anything with regards to decisions or interviews from any of the schools. I was told by UCD that due to my late application I am eligible for second round offers. I applied to TCD, UCD (late), NUIG and RCSI. All 5-year programs. Am I done for?

Acceptance letter dated March 26, 2013 from NUI Galway for the 6-year program. Will not be attending since will be going to Boston University for the 7-year BA/MD program.

Congratulations, SJLIM ! But what about that Albany program you were talking about? weren't you going to wait for that?
