Yes, my dad wants me to go to Albany, but I would rather go to BU. I think Albany is nice but I do not like Troy, where Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute is and I will have to spend three years there before going to Albany.

got one from RCSI

Going to attend? We were at RCSI last summer and was not very impressed with the facilities. If you get Galway, Cork, Trinity or Limerick, you would probably be better of there.

Hey SJ - I got into the 6 yr NUIG program , why do you like it above RCSI ?

The facilities are not very impressive and there is a lack of college atmosphere. Most of the professors are part-time and the teaching hospitals the college uses are not the top hospitals in Dublin. I went to visit in the summer and after visiting, decided to only apply to Galway and UCD, not knowing that I could have applied to Trinity (probably the best of them all, very nice campus with good reputation).

just wanted to say congrats to everyone who has been accepted! One of my recommendations got messed up so my applications were late, just hoping that doesn't haunt me for the rest of this process! 🙁 any one have any ideas what point in the week we should start to hear from Trinity? Good luck everyone!

I think this is a good choice. Although I have not been there, the campus looks very nice on the website. Good luck. 🙂

I just received my fedex package for the 6 year program at NUIG. I didn't receive any emails or notification from ABP prior to receiving the acceptance package. Does anybody know how it compares to UCD? I think I'm going to submit my deposit just to save my spot on the list, but if I do am I automatically not considered for other universities?

I did not get any email either. Being in Dublin, UCD will always be considered a more popular than NUI Galway. Unfortunately the top teaching hospitals in Dublin have already been taken by students from Trinity. So, Galway may actually be better. You mentioned putting in a deposit, but the 4000 Euro is not refundable if you decide to attend and decide to go to other colleges.

Thanks for your reply SJLIM! Regarding the deposit, I am fully aware that the 4000 euros will go down the drain if I submit it for NUIG and decide to accept the offer from potentially UCD. I guess my real question is: Is it worth putting 4000 euros down the drain for UCD? I thought that UCD may be in fact worth it because it is located in Dublin, which may bring me better opportunities and connections. Also, just as a curious thought, have you visited these campuses before? I haven't gone to see them yet so I'm kind of relying on forums to get all of my information. Thanks!

Visited Ireland last summer. Saw the UCD campus. It is okay but not as nice as Galway, at least Galway in photos.🙂

As someone who used to live in Ireland I'd say don't just take into account the campus but take into account the city. You'll be living there for a few years so you're going to need to like the atmosphere of where you are. Dublin and Galway are very different places, if you prefer bigger cities Dublin is the better fit and vice versa. Both are beautiful and fun in their own ways but I think you should focus on what you want out of your experience. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, even though I'm from cork I have family in both cities🙂 congrats on getting accepted and feel free to ask anything you can think of!

Please advise me on accomodation around NUIG , I want to avoid partying dorms and bad areas of galway , any insight will be really helpful , there is minimal info out there about galway campus and surroundings.

any one else who know Galway , your input is very welocme 😍

Apparently Trinity will be releasing first round offers soon. Anyone received one yet?

By all first round offers they meant for all programs. I'm also waiting on the 5 year from NUIG and TCD that's why I emailed them.

Well, I guess that means I didn't get anything from NUIG as the first round offers seems to have gone out already. Hopefully there'll be a 2nd round of offers 🙁... still waiting to hear from Trinity 😕

I'm in the same boat. Stay strong and keep up hope!

Hi all,

Congrats to those of you who have received offers!

I am wondering in anyone has heard from the Dental schools yet? Any responses from UCC or TCD dental programs??

Thanks

I have yet to get any notifications from any of the schools I applied to. I foresee the rejections roooolling in..

So it is now the end of early April. Anyone had a word from ABP about TCD acceptance?

Fear not! I recently (yesterday) was told that the first round offers for TCD are actually coming out this next week. Let the waiting commence... again!

Nothing here either for the dental school...

Who knew having patience would be so difficult!? 🙂

Hey Everyone!

I have also applied to the two dental schools in Ireland but havent heard anything yet. ABP said that UCC had sent out their first round of offers and unfortunately I wasnt part of that group. They also said TCD should follow shortly with their offers.

Cheers

I haven't heard anything from ABP either, but I did get an automated message from TCD registry telling me to log into my portal (even though no username or password were provided). Did anyone else get this strange email?

Rejection letter from RCSI dated today, April 10th. Was not offered a first-round TCD offer, nor one from UCD or NUIG. Things look hazy for me to say the least.

I'm sorry to hear that 🙁

I hope this isn't insensitive, but how was the rejection letter delivered? Just in case I should be looking out for something myself ...

I was wondering about that too..Did you get any formal notification about the first round notification on TCD? Thanks!!!

Sassa, your inquiry isn't at all insensitive, why did you think it might be? I received a scanned copy via email from Atlantic Bridge. I hope your result is preferable to mine!

hrconnect, The ABP email with my RCSI rejection also stated that TCD had issued first round offers but I did not receive one.

I feel greatly relieved to have some closure. I was accepted into the post-baccalaureate program at Fordham University in February, so plan B is ready. I would be re-applying (with MCAT and additional coursework) for fall 2015 entry.

P.S. TCD 2nd round offers expected mid-May

Rejection sucks, I know I hated getting the Canadian rejections (at least 2/3 of them gave me reasons). Just in case you were still processing – I hate being insensitive, especially on boards with zero tone.

I'm currently in a place with no email access so either way, I'm anxious to get out to check.

I hear ya on the closure. It's a relief to just "know" after waiting for so long. I have my Plan B and C lined up, but Plan A is always preferable 😛

Hopefully you hear something positive from your Plan A though 🙂

Plan A would be ideal, I hope we both get good news in the coming months.

I am sorry about the rejection from RCSI. I must admit I am surprised. I looked at your stats and thought that they are more than competitive for RCSI and NUIG, although I thought you might have some problem with TCD. Keep us posted and all the best.

Thanks for your kind words, and congratulations on your BA/MD offer!

I received the same strange email for TCD. After emailing them, I received a username and password along with a conditional offer (based on maintaining at 3.3 GPA). I haven't received anything in the mail from ABP though.

Hey! I got the same thing on Monday. Contacted ABP and TCD and they were very receptive in providing me with the login. Hope good news comes your way.👍

1st round offer for me at TCD. In my 4th year of BMSc at UWO. Any other Canadians considering accepting it? Any advice for someone that wants (will be) to come back to Canada for residency? Any info on match rates, or how good TCD is? It looks like a great school from what I've been reading on the forums....

Thanks 🙂 Good luck to everyone! Keep your head up - everything works out in the end, one way or another.

Congrats! Did you apply to 5 year? Do you mind posting your stats? I applied to TCD as well but didn't hear back yet. Did you submit your full application before November deadline?
I'm also a 4th year Canadian student and would like to see what I'm up against. Thanks in advance!

Did you accept NUIG then ? I am planning to see the campus in May
