I have been unable to find a straight answer on this. What are the major components of the boards? I realize it's the basic sciences in the first two years but are there any subjects that are more heavily weighted than others?

This is what I've heard from many posters in this forum from reading it the last 2 years. The 2 most important things are Pharm, Physio, and Path. Next is Micro. The ones that isn't very much tested is Embryo, Gross, and Biochem. Individual tests vary greatly, with I've heard some people having Biochem being the #1 subject.

First aid for step one does a wonderful job of covering topics in proportion to how much they show up on step I. If one subject is given 4 pages and another 8, the 8 pager will usually have 2 times the number of questions as the 4 pager.
