Still "pending review" at UCI?

My file has been complete at UCI since Sept 20 and I've still heard nothing. I've called and emailed the admissions office and they keep saying that my file is still under review for a possible interview. It seems like most people complete around that time have either been put on hold or granted an interview. Anyone else still "pending review" after 2+ months?

Listed as complete just a few days before you (though everything was actually received beginning Sept), but mine says the same. I think they'll get to us by Dec. I guess I'd rather be "pending review" than officially "on hold"--seems there's more hope.

But as others have mentioned, Irvine actually interview lots from the hold category (unlike UCSD).

ME TOO! When I emailed them to ask if this to be expected, they said yes.

Yup, I'm in the same situation as you....my file was complete as of 9/22 but still "pending review". GGGGRRRRR. I HATE this waiting game. 😡

I've actually been complete since Aug 20, not Sept. As my town is getting burnt to the ground (I'm from San Diego) all I can do is sit at home and watch helplessly as my med school applications don't seem to be going through any movement. Can life get any worse?

Hey size_tens,

I totally feel for you. My hometown is San Diego too and I know how stressful the last few days have been. We live near Tierrasanta, so I've been constantly calling home to ask if our house is still standing. We've been fortunate tho. Back on topic, it doesn't help that I've gotten nothing but rejections from med schools at this point. And the silence from the UC's is nerve-racking. I feel your pain ... hang in there!

If my status page says "final decision sent," and I don't have an interview, then it's safe to assume that I was rejected, right?

Hey man. I'm still "on hold," but a lady from the admissions told me that if you get off the hold list, then there should be a date next to the "interview standing" on the status screen... but if rejected, next to the "final decision sent"... 😳

Hey, you guys are observant--I wouldn't have even noticed ("pending review" or "review in process" sounds like the same thing to me). Do they just change the wording to make us feel better that something's being done? All in all, still in limboland. Hope they get to us by New Year's.

I was pending review from 9/5 until yesterday when I called the adcom and left a message for the admissions coordinator ('cuz they never answer their phones😡 ). Now, suddenly after calling, my interview status says hold, and she didn't even call me back 😡 😡 . This sux 🙁 Why is it that only UCSF has wanted to interview me so far? AHHHHHHHHH. I would love to go to UCSF but I would also like some other UC interviews. What is wrong with all of my state schools (UCSF aside)?

Anyone have any feedback. All of my family thinks that the other UCs haven't interviewed me yet 'cuz they know UCSF wants me, but I don't think so.

Have you heard anything further, and how long did it take?
Were you first put on "review in progress" before you were put on hold? ('cuz I got no review in progress)

I have been very fortunate with the UC system this year. Very lucky I guess. Don't worry! It's still very early in the process and being on hold is not the end of the rope yet. You might be pleasantly surprised when all of the UCs start sending out admissions letter in the later months (June/July). Keep faith! Besides a UCSF interview is amazing!

I hope you applied to other schools than just the UCs because if you didn't, that's equivalent to committing suicide.

I very much have. I have interviewed at two out of state schools and I have an interview at USC, but that tuition is just so damn appealing to me.

I got put on interview hold at UCSD on 10/13 and got the interview invite earlier this week! My stats are also below their averages and I'm not URM. There is still hope for us!!!

did you do anything special to get off the list? like send in updates or more letters or something.... cuz that is pretty quick...

Nothing. I thought of it as a rejection and just gave up all hope. There's not really much I could do to update. No new publications, no new grades, or activities. Basically the same old me.

Wow, I guess I'm in for a wait... I wasn't complete until 10/20 (DAMN YOU UC DAVIS COMMITTEE LETTER SERVICE!!). Why did I bother rushing to get everything done by September?

Is there any way you can get to the status page without flash? Our computers at work don't have flash, so I've been unable to indulge my OCD status page checking.
