I thought there was a post about this, but I couldn't find it: does anyone know if the AAMC lists study abroad grades when you submit your transcript?

Yes, they do. It depends on how they are presented. If you are at an American institute abroad you must get an official transcript. Otherwise they will just pull the grades off of your transcript from your home university, which is what they did for me (I went to Ireland for a year).

i spent a summer in austria taking german and was so glad I didn't have to get a transcript from the school there to send to amcas. yay for studying abroad!

along the same vein...

So they do report the GPA from your abroad semester, but is it factored into the cum GPA of your degree at your home uni (as in does AAMC readjust your final GPA)?

Had a quick question about studying abroad.

Financial Concerns aside. How hard is it to get into a resedency program after finishing your studies abroad in an American Acredited Institution?

(i.e. Dominican schools)...

Thanks,
Alex.

I'm not sure what you mean by readjust, but AMCAS will calculate your grades from studying abroad into your final overall GPA from all of your undergrad institutions, as shown on the AMCAS application. I took classes at 5 institutions in my undergrad and so my cumulative GPA is a conglomerate calculation of every class I had credit for.

i guess if your undergrad university doesn't include studying abroad courses in its calculation of gpa, then yes, your AMCAS gpa will be different, because it includes it.

does that answer your question??? 😕

i suppose so?

i guess its more like how if your school as a 4.3 scale (i.e. .3 bonus) the AMCAS application will adjust the GPA so that the max you can get is 4.0..?
