So, I purchased a bookstand from amazon.com, and it literally changed my whole study life. I am blown away at how much more comfortable, and productive I am over a simple little thing like a bookstand. Not to mention how much better my back feels..

Here is the product if you are curious. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001J9SFXK/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3C_SC_3p_dp_1

So - I am curious. Has anyone else discovered any other products that has made studying easier, or more productive for you? I sure would like to take advantage of anything else that might be of use.

Saw the pictures, read some reviews, and purchased it!

For me, I would have to say the study desk I bought last year has worked wonders. One side I am able to put my computer monitor and keyboard and the other side for books and notes. You can switch back and forth on the fly and have all the resources you need in the same place :xf:

This is the one http://www.amazon.com/RTA-Products-...F8&qid=1347490548&sr=1-16&keywords=study+desk

OK.... So I am now looking for the ultimate lazy student item.

Is anyone aware of any kind of software that will scan the text of a textbook, save it as a sound file, and then read it to you in an understandable voice?

That would be perfect.

Whiteboards changed my (study) life.

I'm also digging Adobe Acrobat, although I have an old version on my laptop. One Note was useful for some situations in which we could use our notes, but it hasn't been as helpful as I wanted. I also haven't found a whole lot of use for DragonSpeak (even though I trained it).

Many students in my class are gushing over an iPad + Noteability for taking notes directly on the professors' lectures.

Tablets are great (I personally use an android tablet). Honestly though, I don't think any of the things mentioned really improve your studying. They are simply a novelty or "cool" item which you are more likely to use and therefore more likely to study when using it.

So I guess they do improve your studying, it's just a psychological thing.

Do you have a mac? This is a built in feature.

Have you got your stand in the mail yet? Has it made your life 10x better yet? lol!

I have also used a book stand for several years now and it's awesome. Mine also folds up and can function as a clipboard. Very handy. It doesn't look like it can hold heavy duty books but it can. https://www.bookstandstore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ER-100

I use PDFnotes, but I know other people use GoodNotes and Noterize.

My addition: I still prefer the good ol' paper planner, but if you want a good calendar app P. Schedule works well. I think the "P" stands for "pocket". It has a lot of sorting options (by course/task/assignments, etc.) and reminders if you want them.

As for study habits, I definitely second the whiteboards. That and actively quizzing others and getting quizzed instead of passively reading through your notes or making study guides.

I like quizlet. Makes memorization much easier, and you can share the flashcard set. I got like 4 students who are sharing their sets with all of the P1 class.
